Churston Manor

Food ok for a 2 star.

We had an enjoyable weekend break at the hotel. At this time of the year (November) the open fires in the bar were very welcome. If you like animals it seemed very pet friendly place with some rooms available for guests with pets.

A very nice place to stay. Staff friendly, lovely character to the place, great location will certainly come back.

We love staying here, it's very relaxing and the manor is very unique. Not your all white walls hotel! We stay often and love the walk down to Brixham which is roughly half hour or a 5 minute drive. There is so much to do around the area and also very close the the beaches. We will be back in February!

Romantic

An old timber frame building full of faded oil paintings, tapestries and suits of armour. It is like wandering into a 16th century time warp. The room (called Elizabeth 1st!) was comfortable with original stone frame windows and single glazing. The bathroom was very dated but everything worked with plenty of clean linen. If you want a very eccentric place to stay, you cannot do better than this. Beautiful location tucked away in a quiet lane with superb outside dining / entertainment areas.

I thought that staying in a Manor house would be great for our 25th anniversary. However, it was "all right", but not great!

Location staff dinner and breakfast all fine. However the room poor and cold no improvement after speaking with reception and then sending someone to take a look. Bathroom worse cold dingy and needing a good clean. The extract grill filthy spiders and cobwebs on ceiling. Real shame as the building is really great and could be fantastic

Very picturesque and comfortable.

No one on reception on arrival. The young members of staff tried their best and were pleasant, courteous and helpful. But seemed to lack training and direction. The evening meal service was slow despite the restaurant being not fully occupied. The starter and main courses were very good. We waited ages for pudding, when it came it was burnt and inedible. Alternative was offered but we'd had enough. On checking out no one was available for 15 minutes or so and there were two other guests waiting to check out. The card machine wasn't working and my bill had items on I had not had, they had been crossed out. Not very professional.
