O'Reilly's Rainforest Retreat

Beautiful location.

We wanted a romantic night away, but got a room where all you could hear was screaming children running up and down the hall ways. We went to the restaurant for a buffet dinner. At $70 a head- food was cold, there were empty platters so only 4 choices to make. Below average food and a complete waste of money.

Loved the walks . The room was clean and tidy . The facilities were well maintained. Loved the birds on the balcony.

Would of loved a TV in the room . Some of the signage around the retreat was outdated and not clear. The map of the retreat was not clear on how far away things were and a bit misleading.

Fantastic location in the Lamington National Park. Room was fairly basic but clean and comfortable - good nights sleep and the bathroom was more than adequate. All staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Good food options from full a la carte menu to buffet in main restaurant, cafe for breakfast, bar snacks in the bar - all reasonably priced and the buffet is as much as you wanted to eat. Atmosphere was generally quiet probably because there is lots to do and guests were relaxing are taking part in activities or taking advantage of the many walking tracks into the park. Easy to book activities and the O'Reilly's app is very easy to navigate. Overall a great experience and a very enjoyable few days

Beautiful location.

We asked to be moved (which we have never done anywhere before) because the first place we were given looked like a hostel and was poor value for money - just a tiny room with no view/ no where to sit outside nothing like it did on booking.com. Was told it was a budget room however the price was not budget and it was not advertised as such. For quite a bit extra $ we asked to be moved which luckily the staff allowed and the next place was lovely with beautiful view. Facilities were reasonable although pool space/ beds were limited and minimal staff meant service was poor and long wait times at the bar/ restaurant. We wouldn’t come back as we’ve stayed in much nicer places in the hinterland with better value for money. Luxury prices for a holiday camp feel - great if you have kids but wouldn’t recommend for a couple.

The location with magnificent walks and valley views, the warm attentive service, and old world charm with contemporary convenience, range of accommodation types, suiting multiple demographics, and mostly the first deep breath of mountain air when stepping out onto tracks, dissolving any worldly worries, has kept me and my family returning to oreillys over past 90 years ( yes, initially by horse back) of its 100 year history.

Amazing location. The views over the valley, mountains and forest are astounsing. Wildlife. Ww experienced the sights and sounds of the rainforest at every turn. From dawn chorus and bird walks to exploring the trails and seeing reptiles, amphibians, arachnids and mammals. I saw a wedge tailed eagle, several species of parrot. Black cockatiels, lyrebirds, honeyeaters. Pademelons, bandicoots, possums. Tree skinks, banded frogs and a carpet python. Staff: The staff are amazing, the activities are all the more interesting due to their enthusiasm for the place. Food and drink choices are great. Accomodation: The villas are smart, modern and very clean. We were surrounded by rain forest and experienced many interactions or sightings just right from the comfort of our terrace. Excellent value for money, maybe even my best experience to date. If you get the opportunity, please stay here.

I only have one criticism, but it's more advice for future guests. The little general store on site is very limited and expensive. If you intend to self cater, then I strongly recommend you stock up before heading up the mountain road. We got by over 3 days and the options at cafe, bar and restaurant are very good (esoecially recommend the pizza) but wouldve liked to use the barbecue more.

View to mountains amazing. Bed very comfy. Buffet brekky on point with bubbles a nice touch.

Maybe include barista coffee with breakfast?

A fantastic (& cost-effective), easy 2-day getaway for us local Gold Coasters. The safari tents, camp kitchen, communal fire pit, hiking trails, and organised nature (animal) experiences were excellent. Highly recommend taking advantage of the nature experiences, especially the Birds of Prey Show. I also like O'Reilly because they have both a restaurant and a cafe on-site, an option to treat oneself to a beautifully cooked meal and a delicious coffee. The staff were so kind, and I could see they love being a part of delivering the O'Reillys experience.
