Elba Lanzarote Royal Village Resort

10/10 holiday. We have just returned from an amazing family holiday. After reading some reviews we felt apprehensive before but that was quickly changed as everything was perfect from arrival. Our rooms were a great size with all amenities needed, even adding a baby kit when requested. Milk for our baby, new towels every day, more pillows when we needed them, nothing was too much. The food was different every night with so much to offer for everyone. Brilliant options for adults and children. The staff in the restaurant worked so hard to keep all the tables clean and serving drinks. We especially loved sitting outside for our evening meal. The entertainment team are spectacular making sure all the children are involved and take the time to get to know each one of them. Our little boy is shy and took a while to relax but Rachel from the entertainment made sure he wasn’t left out and made us feel so comfortable. The pools are beautiful, the bar and snack bar are always full of everything you need for a day at the pool. We loved the shuttle bus and spent a couple of days at the beach and harbour. Don’t let any bad reviews stop you from booking this hotel for your holiday, it has everything you need and would recommended to anyone. Thank you Elba for a unforgettable holiday x

Would like to come again Felt welcome

We had a bumpy start waiting over an hour to check in late at night with young kids was not fun, and then to head into a dirty room, having been given the wrong directions to get to it also not fun! However…. I would definitely recommend this hotel and even go again. They really turned it around and Andrea on the reception team was truly fantastic. They sorted a new room which was perfect, and really looked after us the rest of the trip. The food is amazing! Great choice and the staff are so lovely in what is a very busy dining room! We tried both À la carte restaurants too and had a fabulous meal in both - my only criticism is that it may be good to do half portions for kids in these areas as we ended up wasting a lot and I hate seeing food waste… The kids area were just fab too, great sand area, great kids play rooms and the small pool is great fun and very safe for them with plenty of room for parents to be close. Drinks were good and house wine was quite good too! Great shuttle bus service which we used to explore the town one day. Overall, it could have been a bit of a disaster holiday but ended up amazing, a proper turn around and a show of what good customer service can do! The room we received was lovely, modern and nice fluffy towels. The food was a massive disappointment and any eating time there was no quiet area. Literally hundreds of screaming toddlers, dirty tables, hot enough cups or spoons, everything is self service and mostly uncovered with flies crawling over cheese, meats and veg. No fly zapper machines noticed anywhere. We ended up with sickness and diarrhoea on numerous occasions and 3 out of 4 of our party. Put a notice on the Facebook page to ask if others were suffering and admin refused to publish! When speaking to others realised we were not alone. If you have under 5s you are in for a treat; it’s like a massive toddlers convention, animation team geared for small kids, little for 9 years upwards l. Even my grandson didn’t want to go to the evening entertainment as the animation female too loud and too many kids running around, mostly unchecked by Parents. The one night we had a nice meal was the steak night at the brasserie which was lovely and fresh of fresh and beautiful. The whole place is understaffed, one person serving a whole bar. Before arriving I was not aware the the adult only part was premier only, I went across to have a coffee without being in a nursery environment and was abruptly told off that I was not meant to be there, my “goat class” silver band meant I was not permitted to a peaceful holiday. If you go premier you also have a civilised pool bar, nicer food and a nicer separate dining and entertainment area, if not and you want to live in chaos for a week, this resort is for you. On a happier note, the pools looked lovely but some had broken tiles. The spa area was lovely but the sauna was out of order most of the time. There is a decent gym and the indoor pool is lovely.

Honest review… I read lots of bad reviews before arriving and honestly I was worried but I’d like to reassure anyone that has booked or reading reviews to possibly book… don’t not let them put you off! We come with zero expectations after what we read and figured no matter how bad it was going to be it had to be better than being at home and going to work.. Pros - rooms and grounds are so lovely and very modern, the pools and areas surrounding are lovely, but I can see why picky people would complain, the pools are cold but with the heat of the sun, after a minute of getting in you get used and it’s a nice break from the heat! Now I read a lot of the biggest issues were around food and meal time, we were always one of the first for breakfast and same for evening meal just so we could have a fresh, clean experience, I would really recommend coming at the opening times as it’s quieter, plenty staff if needed and everything is fresh with lots of cutely and tableware available, we loved all the food and there is something for everyone all labelled for allergies aswell. The animation team were amazing and my little girl absolutely loved Pepe and the kids disco each night I think she has made memories to last a lifetime! It can get very windy but that is apparently normal for Lanzarote and obviously the hotel has no control over that, but bare it in mind if coming to Lanzarote as we always had all our things blowing everywhere but again out of everyone control. The facilities in the room were perfect, the aircon was powerful, the hairdryer was really strong, the shower was powerful and we had no room issues, my only downfall would be our hot drink items (tea, coffee, sugar, milk) weren’t restocked each day and I had no cup and saucer for 2 days and had to ask for one and took over a day to get them. I did see one or two mosquitos early morning and at night but none in the room or inside the buildings. We booked the Texas ranch zoo and waterpark and would highly recommend as a day out we absolutely loved it and would come back to playa Blanca just for this day! A few cons but only being picky and wouldn’t affect my decisions to come back. - one site shop doesn’t sell drinks only bottles of water and milk (on shelves not in fridges) - no cash machines on site for arcades or taxis. - 15 min walk minimum to any beaches shops or things outside the hotel. - €4 per day charge to use room safe (we didn’t pay and just hid our valuables in the room were we didn’t think cleaners would look or go) Despite the few minor cons we would come back and loved our stay here!!

Overall we had a good stay here but some improvements needed. We had an apartment in the adults only section of the hotel and the rest of the family with children stayed in the family area. Positives first: The reception team were friendly and our suitcases were taken to our rooms which saved hassle as the complex is large The hotel and gardens are well maintained and very spacious so didn't feel crowded. The apartments were large, clean and with comfy beds. There is a big decking area and patio furniture too. Rooms were cleaned and replenished with water etc daily. The children loved the mini disco. The animation team worked hard. The food overall was good. A big selection and so something for everyone. The hotel is an easy 15-20 minute walk downhill into Playa Blanca which we enjoyed. a little harder coming back up! Negatives Check in seemed to take a long time and so there were always a queue if you needed help from reception. Long queues at the bars. There was usually only 1 or 2 people serving. They worked hard and went as fast as possible but expect to be waiting for 15 minutes for a drink. The buffet restaurants are very chaotic and there is not enough staff to clear tables. We often had to wait a while or clear them ourselves. They also ran out of coffee cups, bowls etc at breakfast which is not really acceptable. You had to wait a while to be served drinks at dinner. We waited so long at one point and so helped ourselves to a bottle of water which they soon came over and told us off. You have to pay for the safe in the room which i have never had at other 4 star hotels. The pools are lovely but very cold! it was a struggle for the children. It is also quite slippery around the children's pool area. I do believe more staff would help to improve what seems to be a running theme in the reviews of this hotel with regards to waiting times for drinks and the chaos at breakfast/lunch/dinner. I have stayed at nicer hotels with better service for the same price and so would only recommend this hotel for families with younger children.

This is my second time at this hotel...prestige Adults only area. I came 3 years ago and absolutely loved it that much that I was excited to come again with my sisters... We won't be visiting again! The hotel itself is lovely, however a little rundown in places, there seems to be a staff shortage and the food has gone down hill dramatically. We ended up eating out some days. Some of the staff are wonderful, although we did have a rude encounters with some staff members sometimes. RECEPTION: The reception team are fantastic, very helpful and polite. ADULT POOL AREA: small pool but area good, nice and quiet. Fresh pool towels are supplied at €10 deposit which you can change everyday. SPA: we didn't use the spa, we looked but it wasn't for us due to being crowded. FOOD: we were not impressed with the food. 3 yrs ago it was amazing, themed nights, freshly cooked and delicious. This time is was the practically the same everyday, bland, flies on meat and salad and not the best. Breakfast was lovely, lunch was at Jameos bar which is lovely freshly prepared salads and then the usual of burgers, chicken burgers, pizzas, sandwiches etc. Staff in upstair restaurant quite slow due to shortage. If you particular about decaf coffee then take your own as theirs isn't that nice. we went all inclusive so drinks were included. (mojito not included) BAR: large selection of drinks. Bar staff are friendly and lovely. Jameos staff are gorgeous. LA NONNAS RESTAURANT: this is a Italian in the hotel. We were all really looking forward to this. However I have an allergy which was not taken serious. The head staff lady was condescending in telling me what was in my meal and even though I explained that my food cannot in no circumstances be cross contaminated... She didn't forward this on. I ate my food and boy oh boy was I ill. I had an allergic reaction. I did speak to customer relations the next day and the protocol they have clearly was not followed that night. Luckily I am not anaphylactic but it was a very unpleasant poorly night. ENTERTAINMENT: Adult entertainment nice, more of a relaxed vibe. ROOMS: the rooms are nice , which is more like an apartment, spacious and comfortable which a seating and lounging area outside. However our A/C didn't work properly so we had to put the fan on which was noisy and didn't make a difference. CLEANER: Dishes not taken away. Bed and room not made on 1 day. Overall the hotel is nice, some of the staff are lovely but as stated i will not be returning. There is a beach, shops and supermarket within 20 min walking distance
