"It was ok!"

8.0

I wasn't sure of my booking due to the rating on this hotel. I don't know about the other room but mine was find with a very good bed, 4 pillows etc... clean. Facilities: Good wifi but no info about this in the room so you have to ask at the reception (or call them for it). Plenty coffee & tea with loooooots of milk. - And although I had my own toiletry there was enough shower gels & shampoo to wash a family of 5.

"Presently surprised"

10.0

We got upgraded from a twin to family room, which was very nice for the money. I will be using this hotel again. It was much better value for money than Premier Inn and Travelodge.

"Best not to try a title."

4.0

£With the exception of the bedding, WiFi and the room being large the rest left a lot to be desired. To begin with, this hotel does not have a lift and the staircase is quite narrow and difficult for a 75 year old person especially if they have problems with using stairs.I had only one 55cmsx35cmsx40cms suitcase and a computer bag, although the night caretaker was helpful the stairs were still difficult. The coffee table that was like in a number of hotels also used as a desk was too small to do any desk work and the chair was uncomfortable stained and worn out.Though the bathroom was relatively clean with clean towels and hair&shower sachets the shower itself was appalling with no thermostatic mixer, without enough power thereby making it a nightmare because one either scalds oneself or freezes, I was barely able to have a wash leave alone shower, besides there was no hot water at night so I was barely able to brush my teeth cleanse up using the kettle before going to bed; then the decor looked as if it had never been changed since the early 70's.

"Needs a refurb."

4.0

Old & dilapidated hotel but room clean enough, if it's just a bed for the night then it represents ok value for money, but don't expect a luxury stay!

"Did the job - wouldn't return"

4.0

Booked this as I couldn't get into the Travelodge next to the leisure centre where we were seeing The Blackout play for the last time. I paid £45 so didn't expect much and so didn't feel it appropriate to complain, however no staff actually asked if everything was ok, so can only assume they weren't fussed anyway! Room was spacious enough and chalet style away from main building & very well heated. Toilet hadn't been cleaned, just had cleaner squirted round it, hand towel dirty (although another was provided), bath plughole seemed to be held in with sealant and shower impossible to use as shower head was too heavy for bracket and so pointed down and flooded the floor. Skirting boards dirty, cobwebs, panels missing from vertical blind and I didn't dare investigate what was going on under the bed sheets or pillow cases as, judging by state of bed-base, I may have been put off sleeping in it! A pity really because it could be a good hotel; it's handy for the town centre, but if the basics of good cleaning and maintenance are neglected it only serves to highlight other lacking areas.

"Better than the reviews make out."

10.0

I read a few bad reviews. I stayed here because the others were full. But to be quite honest my views changed the moment I arrived. We were met by lovely staff who could not do enough for us. On arrival at our room we were pleasantly surprised. Large spacious room with a good sized bathroom. Lots of window space covered with blinds and massive blackout curtains to keep you warm and light out. King size mega comfortable bed with nice linen. Nice area to use has a desk or vanity area with large well lit mirror. The decor was good. The hotel itself could do with a revamp. It's a bit dated but clean and decor is good. All in all a good stay and we have booked again for this coming weekend. Why pay any more than you do here. It's proper value for money. The restaurant serves excellent food but the menu could do with a little expansion.

"Attentive staff"

6.0

Strongest asset is the attentive staff who are very polite . Weakest is the condition of the hotel as it feels worn down. The rooms are TIDY but it need a MAJOR update to modern times. Our room on the top floor was spacious but the beds were gone. The food was ok
