Port Douglas Sands Resort

Dirty dishes left in cupboard, blinds broken, exposed wires on ceiling fan, little toilet paper supplied, no clean towels or bed linen offered (stayed for 6 days).

Clean rooms,friendly staff , a bit noisy -close to road

We arrived at Sands resort in the afternoon. The reception was closed and we had to pick up the phone outside reception to speak to anyone. Our apartment was spacious. We found some dirty glasses in the cupboard. The floor was also sticky and the fridge door and outside door were stained. Some of the units in the apartment were dated and in need of renewal. The gardens were beautiful and we woke up to tropical birdsong every morning. The balcony was nice and spacious. The pool was very nice and the poolside had a communal BBQ which was handy. The breakfast was self-service and consisted of cereal, toast, juice, coffee/tea. I would recommend hiring a car if you have family, as the beach is not that easy to get to because of big hotel resort opposite and the centre is not that near. We stayed for 15 nights and there was no room cleaning, only change of bed linen and renewal of towels. The staff were friendly.

We loved our stay at the Port Douglas Sands Resort. - one of the best holidays we have had! Very friendly atmosphere,with a great pool and BBQ area, amid a lush tropical garden. We did not have a car, but found the shuttle bus service a very good alternative. The bus drivers were very helpful and friendly. A simple but excellent,complimentary breakfast,was an added bonus and a great way to start the day!! Can't wait to return again,next year!!

If people are using the name, RESORT, in their title,then please add a few degrees to the pool temperature! The pool was very! cold and not what I would expect at a resort....especially the spa! Owners should be made to sit in it for an hour each day. In the 21st Century, surely Wifi shouldn't be rationed ...6hrs for the week. Come to my town...we have free Wifi any where in the town!

We enjoyed our stay and children loved the swimming pool. Apartment was excellent

We had a very nice stay. A bit difficult to get there at night, they had to leave the key in a safe for us but then we had no clue where to go for super on the first night. Turns out there is a "friendly" bus that takes you to town every 15 minutes, so easy $4.00 to go or $5.00 return, we only found out about the deal on our last day. They were very helpful in booking our tours and they accomodated us so that we could stay 2 more days without changing our room which was so appreciated. Room very clean. The included breakfast is only toast and jam , cereals, coffee and yaourt. We would have appreciated some croissants and pastries. The city is full of excellents restaurants and all you need. The tours we took are Tony Tropical to Daintree Rainforest, The Quicksilver Wavedancer to Low Isle and the Tjapukai ...all three very lovely tours. Unfortunately the water in the pool was too cold for us but the children at the hotel seems to enjoy it totally. I would recommend the place without hesitation

Nice resort, staff lovely. Breakfast was basic but good. Room clean, everything you need. A bit of a walk to town but we had a car so not a problem. Great for young kids as it has separate bedrooms, no aircon in bedrooms, only in lounge/kitchen. Not a big problem in winter though. My main concern was that the pool was too cold for my 17month olds to swim, they loved the sand pit though! A 15 min walk to beach also, but lovely once you get there. The couches were sooooo uncomfortable, could not sit and watch a movie which is a shame. On the whole, it was a nice stay:)

Checked in late so no staff to greet us. Didn't hear or see from management the whole time to see if the room was up to standard, the male management, I found a little rude to company we had at the pool. He counted the numbers and found that there were to many, he said there are 4 guests in total, and presumed that we were going to have them stay. Made them feel uncomfortable. Was good to have kitchen facilities and all the sorts inside the room, a good $20 taxi ride to town, one way. Pool was nice, BBQ great and the full time guests were pleasant and friendly.

Great rooms and pool area. Friendly staff, overall great stay highly recommend.
