Canal Court Hotel

What amazing stay again from start to finish the three of us loved every second of it. Reception welcome as always polite and friendly. Called in to the granary bar for drinks, toasted baguettes they where very tasty and fresh. As always serving there carvery at lunctime and there chef ian is so friendly and come over have quick chat wlth you make sure you are okay. There chefs do amazing job. (enjoy your week away in tenerife chef ian) Got to are room front view canal and town very clean aircon was great during the day was warm in hotel. We where there for tina turner tribute act and what a night brilliant she was amazing. Loved the idea tables and seats got our own table and music is a most see with the backing singers and band. Nearly everyone up danclng and all loved the night. Our dinner got to the room of chicken maryland, chips and it was lovely and the three of us really enjoyed it. Buzzing and lively but relaxed.

Stayed at Canal Court Hotel in Newry – great central location, spacious clean room, friendly staff. Breakfast was good and the bar had a friendly band play

We stayed at the Canal Court Hotel in Newry last week as 2 adults and 2 children, and overall had a really lovely experience. The hotel itself is right in town with secure parking at the back. Check-in was smooth – the receptionist was so friendly and efficient, a great first impression. I also appreciated that the corridors are secure and only accessible with your room key card. Our room was a good size, plenty of space for the four of us and all the mod cons you’d expect. A really nice touch for me was the robes and slippers in the wardrobe for using the leisure facilities – not every hotel does that! Another huge plus was the filtered water stations on each corridor – brilliant idea, so much better than having to drink from the bathroom tap when you’re thirsty. The bathroom was spotless, with a heated towel rail (such a treat after a shower) and a make-up mirror. It probably could do with a little updating, but honestly that’s nitpicking as everything was perfectly clean and functional. On our first night (a Sunday) there was a function with live music in the bar, but once we were in the bedroom we couldn’t hear a thing – great soundproofing. The bar itself is really nice with a good food and drinks selection, and live music that evening added to the atmosphere. Breakfast was excellent – buffet continental plus a hot breakfast cooked to order, with nice healthy options like poached eggs and avocado. As a coeliac, I was delighted to see a full gluten-free menu along with a separate toaster and cereal section. It meant I didn’t have to ask specially, which made me feel very well looked after. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, and the breakfast room had a calm atmosphere even though it was busy enough. We also used the leisure facilities which were great, especially with kids. Newry itself is a nice town, though you can see it would benefit from a bit of investment and TLC. Still, it has some good shops and there’s plenty to do in the surrounding area – Slieve Gullion especially is brilliant if you have children. Overall, we had a really enjoyable stay and would happily return.

Travelled from Tasmania but I'm Irish and haven't been home for 51 yrs Booked into the Canal Court hotel for three weeks and it was the best decision I made on this trip The staff were lovely so helpful and accommodating I made this journey on my own and it made my home coming so much easier The food and accommodation were excellent and hotel manager Louise was exceptional I would have no hesitation in recommending Canal Court Hotel Newry to any visitor to Ireland

Great as always, although the room was a little too warm. Staff are fantastic!

I have stayed here several times and each time has been faultless, right from initial phone contact to the spacious room and lounge areas to the restaurant and bars. I will always go back.

Bit outdated for the price bed comfort was awful bedding was so heavy in the middle of summer I couldnt sleep I told reception on checkout they told me I should have called them to get thin sheet or something....the pillows were lumpy I never complain but on this occassion I felt that a lighter duvet should have been provided in the room as a choice I dont think I shall return they need to update decor a spa doesnt make a hotel comfortable
