Canal Court Hotel

I am writing this for my daughter ( special needs). Her self and her boyfriend had a wonderful stay they were 💯 delighted with everything. They had a lovely meal & made use of the swimming pool which they loved . It was a short trip from home and bus office directly opposite the hotel which was very convenient for them. A special thank you to all the staff who helped throughout their stay especially Majella who helped with the booking in a very compassionate & professional way 🥰

The Canal Court is a good place to stay, central, clean and comfortable. However, it needs some basic security and client management. At one point, there were at least 6 children running around the public bar areas, lifts and stairs and yelling and screaming. If their parents aren't going to stop them doing that, then the staff need to have a word with the parents. And sorry if this annoys parents reading this, but NOBODY enjoys trying to have a quiet drink with children constantly making noise, even parents of non-noisy children. On another occasion, three hoodied kids unaccompanied by parents came up to where we were sitting and asked us for money. (No, we didn't give them any.) The staff came and asked them to leave eventually, but there really should be somebody on the door stopping them getting in. But probably the worst thing about the Canal Court public bar areas is the music. Annoying 80s and 90s pop and rock that absolutely NOBODY was listening to. Even for people who like that kind of thing - I assume there are some - it wasn't loud enough to really listen to. And people come to the Canal Court to be with friends, have a drink or something to eat, not to listen to old music. It WAS still loud enough to be annoying, though. That's what really lets the place down, I think.

We had to stay overnight here due to an early morning appointment the second day and we booked the Ambassador Suite. Car parking was fine, the welcome ar reception was very good, and the room itself was large and comfortable. The bathroom was superb with a terrific shower and the sleep quality of their bed up with the best. There were a couple of weddings on in the hotel but there was plenty of places to relax. We had a good meal in the Old Mill Restaurant, but due to the early start we had to leave without breakfast. A really good hotel in a central location. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed 3 nights, first time here and very impressed. Staff were welcoming and friendly. Rooms were clean tidy and modern. The breakfast and dinner service was excellent and food was top end! Needed taxis for work and reception very helpful in organising them for me. Beautiful place, staff and food.

The hotel it self was lovely but not good for anyone in a wheelchair I was told it would be 100% wheelchair accessible was not atall the doors don’t open I had to push my mum in a wheelchair past a SWIMMING POOL to get to the sauna that is so dangerous the bedroom was lovely had a good sleep lovely breakfast but not good for someone coming in a wheelchair.

Stayed for a weekend staff were very helpful and friendly,food was top class,we had breakfasts and evening meal good portions and very tasty. Room clean and comfortable.. Also used the leisure complex also great experience. The hotel is in a super location right bang in the middle of Newry city so close to all shopping.

We booked a function room for our child's Holy Communion family get together. I cannot fault the hotel in any way. From the moment we walked in until we left, was first class service. Couldn't have been kinder. Food was beautiful and plentiful. Very reasonable cost for our day. Fantastic. Many thanks

It was a very busy weekend but the staff were rude. The food was expensive and not good - it was mainly the waitresses that were downright rude. Breakfast was not good. The staff at the spa were friendly and that was ok. Nice Sauna … but this is not a 4 star hotel. No reflection on the town which was fine.

Welcoming friendly staff, from the reception, to the diner to the bar. Lovely, comfortable room. And great that the Canal Court is a good base to trek the local area, including the Mourne Mountains - and the sea.
