Canal Court Hotel

Me and my mum attended the afternoon tea which I would highly recommend. The lady who served us was no helpful and so friendly. Big shout out to their receptionist Mairead who let me carry over a gift voucher I had received from Christmas 2023. I would definitely return.

We have just returned from an overnight stay at this hotel. This has been my third visit in the past year. My previous visits were also negative but I thought I would give the benefit of the doubt. I rang with a query in advance of staying. I was asked for some details and put on hold. I thought the lady was dealing with my query but this was not the case. Approximately 5 minutes I was taken off hold and she asked me for my details once again to only start dealing with my issue. The rooms are just OK. The cleanliness of the rooms need to be improved. I had been told at check out of my previous stay to notify reception if I returned to stay and I would be looked after. Not one single thing was done to recognise this or to make me regain faith in this hotel. I would honestly look for somewhere else in the area to stay before returning to this hotel. I would agree with previous reviews that this hotel is definitely going downhill unfortunately.

I've been a regular customer over the years and I've seen the hotel steadily go downhill. The service has got dramatically worse since Christmas. The staff are so unfriendly and unhelpful. I had to ask 3 different members of staff to take my order. It's as if you are an inconvenience to them. It's very sad as I used to enjoy going here to meet up with family and friends.

I'd heard good things about this hotel before our trip but in all honesty is was disappointing. I didn't find the staff friendly, the tone was set when we checked in, the girl wasn't rude but she just seemed like she didn't want to be there. Several of the domestic staff were lovely and there was a man on reception later on that evening who was very nice too so it wasn't all bad. We wanted a late check out and were told that it was subject to availability and to ring down in the morning. The whole point of a late check out is that you can relax a bit the night before knowing you can lie that bit longer, we have young kids and every second counts! As it were I got up at 7.30 to call them but of course that woke my baby up and even though we were able to check out at 12 was little odds as gone was my lie in! I just felt that for the price it wasn't worth it, the hotel was tired looking and we found a toenail and a peanut in our room - neither were ours. I'm not a fussy person but I have friends who love this hotel and regularly frequent it, we were only there one night so perhaps I'm being unfair to judge it harshly but I really felt there wasn't a smile between most of the staff and I think that really makes a place. I could be more forgiving of the other stuff had they been lovely. Food was ok, waiting staff were unfriendly though and I felt like I was being a nuisance when I asked for something. Doubtful I'd come back unless we got it for half the price we'd paid.

It’s a greesy spoon with salad on the side, but with high hotel prices. Nice setting with friendly and attentive staff but quality of food ruins it. I would chance else where. Pint of beers were ok…………………………,.,,,.,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,..

car park full told to park next door and i got a ticket wont go back

My Wife and I used to come to your Daily Carvery quite regular, but not so much now since the price increase. Also, why have you stopped the Senior Citizen rates. Although the food is very good. The Senior Citizen cost used to be Two meals at £8.50. each. A Draft Beer £ 4.00. and 1 pot of tea £1.70. Total £22.70. But this was 6 years ago.

Spa area brilliant.

The desk staff were brilliant very helpful, as was the rest of the staff considering it was a Sunday and hundreds was there for a mma competition , as we stayed overhighr the room was excellent very quiet so good nights sleep, breakfast was also very good.
