Poorly run

The greeting card in my room was a nice touch. The staff were very good

The carpet up to my room was very tired looking. Also the spa Jacuzzi and sauna opening time at 9 was too late, I needed to access these before going to a work conference at 10. The pillows were not that comfortable which made my sleep more challenging in an already unfamiliar place.

Great hotel for an overnight stay whilst visiting the area . Great breakfast and food in the bar area .Staff were all very helpful .

We were attending a wedding on bank holiday Monday but decided to arrive the day before to ease the stress! We were shown to our room (junior suite) and on first impressions, the room looked quite stunning- however, on closer inspection the room was actually quite tired and in need of some redecoration/ repairs. The Spa was busy and as we hadn’t booked any treatments, we could only use the hot tub and sauna- which were as expected. However, finding a towel was difficult as I was told they are in a cupboard- after opening a few utility type cupboards I found it!!! No sign on the door etc and no where to put your used towels, I bumped into a member of staff and he said put it anywhere and suggested on top of a piece of wooden furniture to the right of me ?!. On a positive note, The restaurant was pleasant and the food was really good.

Breakfast: Only choice was cooked. No pastries, yogurt, cereal or fruit. Run out of white bread and single cream. Other meals ok

Staff were a little distant, they would vanish at times.

We were initially hesitant to book this hotel due to previous low ratings, but recent reviews appeared more positive, so we decided to give it a chance. Unfortunately, our experience did not meet expectations and was far from comfortable. Upon arrival, there were no staff present at what appeared to be the check-in desk, and we had to wait some time before anyone assisted us. When a staff member eventually appeared, we were briefly informed from a distance where things were located, without being offered a proper introduction or shown around the property. The situation worsened when a large metal shower head detached during use and struck my partner in the face, causing them to slip and fall in the bathroom. We reported the incident the following morning and requested to speak with a manager, but were told no one was available. We were offered the use of the spa facilities to shower, which was not an ideal solution under the circumstances. While the room layout was reasonably functional, it was quite small and the mattress was extremely uncomfortable, with springs pressing through and causing a restless night. Additionally, the bathroom had significant black mould covering the ceiling, which was unacceptable for a hotel advertised as 4-star. The only highlights of our stay were the spa area, which we appreciated due to the warm weather, and the breakfast. However, even at checkout we encountered confusion, as we were told we’d need to pay separately for coffee and tea, despite having breakfast included. This was eventually corrected after we raised the issue. Overall, our stay was disappointing, and we would not choose to stay at this hotel again.
