Lake House

I really enjoyed my stay at the Lake House. The room was cozy and spotless, and the staff were friendly and always helpful with our travel questions. The restaurant was excellent—everything we tried was delicious, especially the French onion soup (a must-try!). Guests can also use the lodge’s kayaks, which I thought was such a wonderful bonus. The location is convenient too—just a short drive from Cooperstown. Overall, it’s a perfect place to stay!

Charming lakeside inn with the perfect blend of modern (WiFi) and rustic vintage character. A great room for our family of 3. The room was compact and clean; the bathroom and closet were spacious. The staff was super friendly and gracious, the central sitting area was comfortable, and the morning coffee was tasty. A picturesque 20-minute drive to the Baseball Hall of Fame through winding country roads.

Beautiful Setting, But Needs Serious Upgrades will never stay here again! We recently stayed here for a week and had a mixed experience. The location is undeniably beautiful and peaceful, with stunning views and a quiet atmosphere that’s perfect for disconnecting. The rustic lodge feel is charming, and the patio area is a definite highlight — lots of seating, a cozy fire pit, and a great place to unwind. The staff we encountered were friendly, and it's nice that pets are allowed. There’s also a variety of shared amenities like water equipment, TVs in the common areas, and a microwave and toaster available for guest use. Wi-Fi was excellent throughout our stay, and we appreciated the complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings. That said, there are quite a few areas where the property falls short, especially considering the price point. Many rooms (including ours) are very dated — some lack basics like nightstands, dressers, lamps, or even window shades. There’s no fridge or microwave in any room, and the shared kitchen space was unclean and unbearably hot. One microwave and one toaster for 14 rooms felt inadequate. There’s no air conditioning in the common spaces, no community laundry, and no daily housekeeping. Throughout our stay, no one cleaned our room or bathroom. The circuit breaker tripped easily, and the hot water was inconsistent. We also had some unpleasant encounters with carpenter ants and even got bitten by a daddy longlegs while in bed — we saw several during our stay. Other downsides: dining options and gas stations are not close by, especially when heading toward Dream Field. The restaurant on-site has very limited hours, and no breakfast is offered. There are also no outdoor grills or stoves for guest use, which makes meal prep difficult. Stairs are tough to navigate, and trash cans were oddly missing on the second level. In short, while the setting and vibe are great, the accommodations and amenities need major attention. With some investment in updates, cleanliness, and staffing, this place could be a gem — but as it stands, it’s overpriced for what you get.

We had a delightful stay at the Lake House. Nice restaurant, beautiful view, and we loved the historical significance of the place.

This is an amazing place- we are so glad we found it- a rustic lodge with clean and comfortable rooms- extra friendly staff- even a library and games and coffee set out- many places outdoors to sit and enjoy the lake view- could not ask for more- even had some friendly dogs for a visit- hidden gem- and best Philly Steak ever !
