"Speak as I find."

10.0

I booked this hotel for it's location as it seemed ideal. I admit to being sceptical after reading the reviews however have learnt over the years to make my own mind up. I booked a superior twin with sea view and messaged the hotel to request a high floor. On arrival we were informed that our room was in the part next door and we were helped across by a lovely and helpful man from next doors reception. We were allocated room 619 and couldn't have asked for a better view. The room was spacious as was the bathroom which contained bath with shower over. Always a good supply of hot water. The room was serviced daily to an adequate standard. Breakfast was fine for us and more than sufficient. If you want 5* then that's what you should book. A big shout out to Maya and the breakfast team ,always smiling and clearing tables efficiently. To be honest we found all the staff to be pleasant and helpful. Would definitely use this hotel again.

"Keep in mind this is a 3 star hotel"

8.0

I always read reviews before choosing a hotel. Whilst they won't put me off I get a flavour of what to expect. This hotels reviews were very mixed so my expectations were low. I like to therefore be honest. If you want memory foam mattresses, pillows and fluffy towels then don't stay here! We booked a superior twin with Seaview as having a balcony and view is a personal essential. We requested a high room so view was wonderful although you can get same view from the restaurant and the rooftop bar and pool. Yes there is a busy main road outside so again if that bothers you then you will be in the wrong hotel! Personally it did not bother me and is handy for catching a bus! Room was fine! We were in older part of hotel so yes if I wanted to nit pick I could but I won't because the pluses outweighed the negatives! We had a leak from fridge which we reported and it was sorted very quickly! Staff were all efficient but I found that restaurant and cleaning staff were especially cheerful and friendly which is something important to me! Now for breakfast again if you are looking for prosecco and made to order omlettes then you will be disappointed! I was very happy with choice! Scrambled eggs were nice, breads very fresh and lots of cake, sweet options and fruits. Coffee was good! The hotel is really well situated with nice walk to lovely sliema seafront to the right and pretty Spinola bay and busier St Julians to the left. I enjoyed Valletta using the ferry there and back. It is a 15-20 min ish walk from hotel to ferry but you do have option of bus. This was my first time in Malta. I would definitely come back and if I did stay in this area I would have no issue staying at this hotel again.

"Lovely hotel and room"

8.0

I stayed with a friend at the Plaza Regency hotel in Sliema, Malta for 4 nights. We had a studio room which had 2 twin beds and a small kitchenette consisting of a 2 ring hob, fridge, kettle, toaster and microwave plus crockery and cutlery. The bathroom had both a bath and walk in shower. We had a balcony which just fitted 2 people (complete with outside chairs and a small table) and a sea view. We were only on the first floor so had some trees in the way but could see the sea over in the distance. The room was very clean and we even had a lady knock on our door at 8am one morning asking if she could start cleaning our room so be aware if you like to get up late on holiday. We had 3 full days in Malta so visited the walled city of Mdina which was very pretty. Inside we did the Mdina experinence which was a 30 mins film about the history of the city. Then we moved on to Saint Paul's cathedral which was stunning. In the afternoon we visited St. Paul's catacombs in Rabat which is one of the largest catacombs in existence. Be aware that once down in the large area underground it is very dimly lit and very narrow. On the second day we stayed in Valletta and visited St. John's Co Cathedral which again was stunning. Then in the afternoon we got a bus to Riche in Birgu to visit the Inquisitor's palace. On the final day we got the fast ferry to the island of Gozo. It is well worth visiting especially the 5 small museums on the combi ticket in the Citadella region. We also did the City Sightseeing bus tour. Be aware of the weather though as we had a storm the previous night which left the sea rather rough and the ferry crossing both there and back was awful. If you haven't got sea legs, you might be best to leave this one out of your itinerary. There are a lot of places to eat in both Sliema and St. Julian's bay area and you get big portions of food. Prices are pretty reasonable. Frescos opposite the hotel has lovely food and couldn't be more accommodating. It is rather small inside so best to book a table. Also round in St. Julian's bay area is a small Spar supermarket selling everything from milk and bread to cakes and biscuits. There is a small convenience store on the next block to the Plaza hotel (come down the steps to the main road and turn right) and that's where you can pick up your bus tickets. If you are only making a few journeys then you can pay by contactless on the bus. We were going to use a lot of buses so got a 7 day Tallinja bus pass from the shop costing 25 euros (single bus fares are around 2.50 euros each). Bus passes can't be bought from the bus driver so get them in advance. We had breakfast each morning and they do cooked items like fried eggs and bacon and cereals, yogurts, meats, cheeses, cakes and fresh fruit. The hotel also has a pool and a bar on the rooftop level but we didn't get a chance to use this. The hotel is on a main road so there is some noise at night but most of the time it was pretty quiet. It was a wonderful holiday and I would love to return to Malta again one day. If I do I would love to stay in the same hotel.

"Not a nice experience"

2.0

Awful stay, woken early in the morning most mornings with banging and drilling. The majority of staff are surly and unfriendly. Breakfast is repetitive, very little choice and the smallest plates I've ever seen. We paid for a superior room with a sea view, we had glimpses of the sea through the trees and restaurant opposite. Not a good experience. Jet2 must take note.

"Good stay, we were happy with our sea view apartment 736"

8.0

Stayed here in self catering sea view room . Having read reviews was worried. However we had a great stay. Hotel was spotless, always someone cleaning something and reception and bar staff on pool bar (Justin and leonard) so friendly and polite. View from our apartment was fabulous out to sea, yes balcony is small but adequate. Self catering facilities were good , only criticism was cupboards were high and no storage space (a shelf in bottom cupboard or freestanding rack would be useful. Swimming pool on roof terrace was cold but once in fine, the sea across the road was a lovely temperature however and really easy access points. Bus stops outside, small mini marts on neighbouring roads and recommend frescos opposite for lunch or dinner .

"Find another hotel"

2.0

We made the mistake of booking an economy room. The room stinks and the air conditioning is not working properly. I have to get out of bed several times per night to turn it off and then on again as the room becomes too hot and stuffy. We have requested a room change and indicated we are willing to pay for an upgrade but the hotel has made that a very difficult endeavour. We have to pack our bags and leave them in storage for an indeterminate period after which another room might be available. In addition the hotel is very busy and sound insulation seems non existent.

"Great location. Nice hotel."

6.0

We stayed here for 10 nights on b&b board. The breakfast is not vast but there is plenty of choice and great views from the restaurant. There are 2 reception areas at this hotel. One is above Costa Coffee and the other above an Italian restaurant on the opposite corner, called Cotto I think. I would check with reception which side of the hotel you are in, before carrying your cases up the steps to reception as there are steps on both sides. The hotel is not suitable for people with mobility issues. The rooftop pool is small but very nice. The rooftop bar is lovely. It’s open from 10am to 10pm. There are some sun beds there and seats to have a chill and admire the wonderful view. Prices are very reasonable and Justine who works there is very nice and friendly. Buses stop right outside the hotel for travel around the island. We had room 418 on the front. The room was big and had a kettle and fridge. The balcony was quite narrow but adequate. Overall we enjoyed our stay here and there are plenty of restaurants and bars close by.
