Kauai Palms Hotel

Very nice little hotel, now seems to fit the “boutique” category. Staff was great - arranged for a late check in as our flight arrived after their 8pm closing time. Room was small, well appointed, and generally fine but we didn’t realize at booking that it didn’t have A/C. (Apparently that’s only in deluxe rooms. My mistake). Not a huge deal, as it was a cool night and we were exhausted. A fan was provided in addition to ceiling fan, but it was difficult to have much cross airflow and privacy as our room bordered both the walkway and stairwell. In the end, it was surprisingly quiet for being in the heart of Lihue and having a school across the street. Woken by roosters and my own EST internal clock at 5 am anyway. Mango, the house cat, was a charmer! If you do stay, we’d strongly recommend Daddy O’s restaurant - block away in the bowling alley strip mall. Great local place - reasonably priced delicious breakfasts and wonderful service! Started the day right!

As I mentioned, I was up at 5 am as we arrived late on a flight from mainland. So it was a challenge that coffee service in the lobby doesn’t start until 8 am. It seemed that several other guests were up around same time (maybe similar flights?) so even a simple self-service coffee option in lobby would help fight the caffeine headache! And surprisingly, there are very few options for coffee in downtown Lihue at that hour so I drove out to Starbucks.

Location and price. Older hotel but reasonable cost. Great for our last night on the island and near the airport. We had a king bed and very comfortable. Glad to have a refrigerator. Able to walk to nearby restaurants.

Very old and dated place. No breakfast. No view or sunlight. High cost for what you get.

The check in lady was so nice. I think her name was Rena?. Very close to the airport which is what we needed. Restaurants walking distance. You can tell they take meticulous care of the property.

Luv the Display and collection of Hawiian Culture artifacts! The owner was very informative. The room was very comfortable and provided everything that one might need. Very Vintage. Luv it! Natural foliage everywhere!

Air cond. On low made a noise. Well, Roosters are great, yet wake you up early!! Lol...

Close to the airport like we needed. Rating was based on the fact that place was a cheap option.

Glass shutters for windows provided no sound barrier. The 2 nights we were there, we heard all conversations of people outside, even guests on their phones at 5am, all noises and people in their rooms. There was lots of baging from upstairs and various points throughout the evening and early mornings. If we were staying longer, I would have moved hotels as our sleep suffered. It was not ideal that we could not leave our luggage their early because we had a full day tour planned and had to leave it in the rental car. All other hotels have either put it in a luggage room or into our hotel room once it was ready. Did not have tea/coffee facilities but I should have checked that before booking.

Cheaper than almost anywhere else. Clean

Not alot of amenities. A toaster would be nice
