Moonlight Bay Resort

The atmosphere at the Moonlight resort was great. We enjoyed our stay in the beachfront Villa with soaking tub. Other than that, service was very poor. Avoid eating in the restaurant unless you have at least 2 hours to kill. You may have to wait 30 minutes to receive a drink, menu, the check, etc. I slipped and hit my back getting out of the tub. I called the front desk and they said they would bring me an ice pack. No one ever came. We went into town to buy one at a pharmacy instead. The location is decent between towns and they have a scooter rental right at the front desk. They forgot to charge us for breakfast at checkout AND THEY TRACKED US DOWN THROUGH THE TRANSPORT TO MAKE US PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE. Beware, the staff will turn off the already inadequate air conditioning when they clean your room. We resorted to hiding the remote to keep our room slightly cool in the 95+ degree weather. We loved Koh Lanta and will hopefully get to return to the island but will not return to this hotel.

Perfect hotel, however, no access to klong kin Beach directly from beach at hotel, you need to walk along the road which can be a little dangerous but torches available in room.

Had a seafront villa. Views are amazing , such an idyllic relaxing place. Staff were very friendly, reasonable prices and nice food in restaurent.

This place is much better than it looks in the photos. It is not cheap but it is to our mind good value. Quiet, friendly and good food

Overall the stay was very pleasant, we got an upgrade when checking in which was nice for our Christmas stay. Korn and Pean on reception and Jack in the restaurant are worth a mention - 5* service from both! The location is quite far from the pier, so I imagine you would need a scooter or taxi to get around the island - although we only had 2 nights at the resort over Xmas eve, and Xmas day so spent the day relaxing on the sunbeds! Lovely private beach, good pool, nice library area to relax in and room was nice and clean with an amazing sea view. Considerations to imporove on: The moon bar opening earlier and providing waiter service around the pool and beach sunbed areas. The gym needs air con - so the windows don’t need to be open. We got attacked by many mosquitoes whilst in the gym because of this! Drinking water machine would be good also! Christmas service: Although many of the guests staying at Moonlight over the Christmas period were European, who celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. We felt as though Christmas Day has been forgotten, there was no music playing whilst we ate our dinner, there was no entertainment of any kind (Jack dressed up as santa on Christmas Eve which was great!) Overall the atmosphere for our Christmas dinner was a little slow and sad. A table of American guests next to us took it upon themselves to play their violin and sing their own Christmas songs which did really boost the atmosphere for us.

Lovely hotel and resort. Our room was well appointed and had a wonderful view. We used the pool and gym which were both very comfortable as well. The buffet breakfast had a great mixture of Western breakfast foods like eggs and bacon as well as delicious Thai dishes. The only thing we weren’t too keen on was the location of the resort. While it was right on the water, the beach was very rocky and to walk to other restaurants or shops you would need to walk on the road or take a local taxi (rather than walk along the beach for example). Overall we had a great stay at moonlight!

Stayed in a beachfront villa as the start to our holiday, the goal to relax and recharge. Was lovely and peaceful, and the service friendly. When we notified the reception of an issue with the lock on the sliding window it was rectified quickly and they even checked the neighbouring villas for the same issue. The beach front pool is fairly small and could have been cleaner, as it is sheltered by a lot of trees but at high tide you can navigate the rocks on the beach for a swim in the sea. We took a one hour oil massage, which was very good, while the food and drink in the hotel were of good quality. We didn't take the breakfast so can't comment on that but we did have the berry smoothie with muesli and the green detox smoothie, both very good. Not many restaurants immediately near the villa but a short ride in a tuk tuk, or a 20 minute walk, gave some good options. WiFi good in all areas. Overall, happy with our stay and would recommend

Everything about our stay here was just perfect. The private beach view was spectacular at sunset and the care package of water each day was just what we needed. The hotel was very quiet (ideal for us!) and totally peaceful. If we ever came back to koh lanta I would book here again in a heartbeat. A good tip would be to use the travel agent opposite the hotel to book your trips (island tours etc) he was really friendly and very fair prices for the service level we got. All in all we couldn’t recommend this place enough, it’s definitely deserving of all the great reviews it has.

Beautiful view, had an ocean view. Room itself was everything we needed. Water every day and tidy of the room if needed. Loved the balcony to watch the thunderstorms. Location was great, was worried but everything (including hospital and such if needed) was only a 5-10 minute walk away. Would go back here for much longer if we could, was sad to leave. Had thunderstorms each day so my only comment would be if the pool could be skimmed out each morning. Swimming with sticks and leaves in the AM but I still swam as it was so refreshing. Also as said before stake claim to your beach chairs early if you want the beach view all day , otherwise other chairs around pool.

Brilliant. Hotel and staff. Could not find any fault. Loved it.
