Moonlight Bay Resort

Stayed here for 4 nights on a 60 day Thailand tour and this is the only 5 star we've given. After the 1st night we assumed the hotel was family owned and operated, the staff just interacted like family members - they were not...they just got on well. We stayed in a beachfront villa (don't be cheap - it's well worth the extra $). Breakfast was the standard Southeast Asian buffet (but with bacon). Espresso available for an extra fee. Lunch and supper had great selections at a reasonable fee. Be prepared to wait a little after ordering and SOMETIMES it takes a bit to get your food. But honestly if you came to my house it would probably take me at least 20 minutes to make you cereal :) so what's 20 minutes for a freshly cooked meal. The beach although the shore is rocky turns into sand after the 1st 2 meters or so and has lots of clear spots to enter in safety. This was not a con in my opinion because it was offset by solitude and no loud long boat engines. The resort is centerally located on lanta, however is probably a 1/2km from anything worth wild. Again think solitude. If you want to get around, the hotel offers free bicycles (I saw 2 of them) plus there is a scooter rental spot directly across the street for 200THB per day. DO THIS. RENT SCOOTERS AND DRIVE THE ENTIRE ISLAND. Only real con is the wait time at the restaurant like I mentioned...so just order 20 minutes before your hungry :)

The main issue was that our beds were so unbelievably hard that I was in pain for the next two days and could only sleep an hour all night. Additionally, all 4 of us got food poisoning there after traveling around Thailand for several week. Not sure what happens in that kitchen.

This is a beautiful resort for a honeymoon couple. (I was a solo traveler). It’s beautiful with fabulous views of the sunset and reminds me of an upper scale tree house with great customer service. The restaurant has delicious food, too. I would recommend the units which are oceanfront or with an ocean view, as I heard road noise from the hill top villas. Also, to get to the units from the front desk is a bit of a trek, so if you have mobility issues or cannot climb stairs, this is not the place for you. There are scooter rentals on site. It’s far away from most restaurants and the center of town, so you will end up spending money on taxis if you don’t rent a scooter.

Hotel is beautiful, facilities & rooms are well laid out and all the staff were very nice. Koh Lanta is nice but the location is not close to most things. If you are looking for a quiet place, then you have found it.

Transfer from Krabi Airport was a breeze (hotel sorted it via their Facebook Page). Check in was quick and friendly, Pool View rooms were amazing. The breakfast was what we booked for and we werent dissapointed, the filter coffee is turned up to 11 so even the Scandi's were adding milk. Ideal for snorkeling with reefs infront of the hotel, swimming is best just down the bay. Motorcycle hire was excellent and when an issue arose (fuel tank defect affecting throttle) the bike was swapped for another on the spot, nice! Wifi everywhere! Great staff, very clean and modern rooms, enjoy!

Amazing place to stay. From check in to check out nothing was to much trouble for the beautiful staff here.The rooms in the pool view are spacious & comfortable wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Don't forget to watch the sunset & swim down the beach it is magnificent . Hopefully this gem stays exactly that a beautiful gem in Lanta.

Hotel is beautiful. In the middle of the hills and next to the beach. Has a cute beach bar as well. Cons: it is a little isolated. Not much around to do if you want to eat outside of the hotel. The beach is rocks so not great for beach access either. Also we had a room with jacuzzi outdoors but the water would only come out cold

This hotel is excellent in terms of location, customer service, cleanliness and amenities. Highly recommended and incredible value.
