China Clipper Inn

Beautiful! We love the sunny south room. The only thing I would change is I wish there was a map of all the room locations at the front desk. Some rooms had directions but some didn't, so it took us a moment to locate the room, but it was lovely once we found it. Thank you!

I cannot express enough on how beautiful and charming this place was. This was my first bed and breakfast experience and I was beyond impressed and pleased with our stay. The breakfast was fantastic every morning!

The place itself is very nice and well kept inside. The furnishings wee lovely and the sitting area with the library was very cozy. However, the steep stairs to the entrance were ice covered and treacherous. The handrail was covered in three inches of snow. The parking area around the property was not cleared of snow. I know it's Ouray in the winter, but the stairs were literally an accident waiting to happen. Dragging a suitcase or overnight bag through the snow was annoying. It wouldn't have taken much effort to clear the snow and ice from the stairs or around the parking area. The mattress is in need of replacement too - sags to the middle of the bed.

The China Clipper Inn is a beautiful property. Our room (Starlight) was large, comfortable and well appointed. The antique furnishings, including a four post king size bed and sitting area were charming and comfortable. Our room had double sinks, a whirlpool soaking tub, and large walk-in shower. Silky soft robes and towels were available for the hot tub, which is outside on the back veranda. In the common area, there is a sitting room with a fireplace, which was lit on the chilly mornings. It was certainly a draw for the more social guests and many people ate breakfast in there. The dining room is bright and welcoming. Breakfasts were excellent! The Inn is in walking distance from downtown. A warning, there are stairs! There is no elevator in this property. We were able to manage the stairs and it made me think I need to be doing more stairs on a regular basis (pant, pant)! We loved our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a unique experience of old world charm and comfort.

Charming, clean, hospitable

Our first time staying at the China Clipper Inn for our visits to Ouray and it is now our chosen place to stay. Perfect location and amenities for everything we love about Ouray.

The managers live on the property and, although new to this property, have extensive experience in B&B management. Judging by the look of the motels in the area, this would appear to be a top choice. We were very happy with our stay. The one concern is the front steps, which are steep and a potential safety issue.
