Hyatt Place Bethlehem-Downtown

For the third time in the last two years we had an excellent experience staying at Hyatt Place Bethlehem. Friendly responsive staff and a good quality free breakfast stood out.

Incredibly clean, comfortable and safe!! Incredible spread / options for breakfast. Staff was very friendly.

The person at the check-in desk was visibly ill — flushed, coughing, sweating, really should have been home resting. I’m a bit of a germophobe, so I was very uncomfortable with touching anything he was touching! We were going to come down for a drink at the bar after we checked in, until we realize that he was also working the bar and again, I was concerned with him being contagious so we decided to go elsewhere.

My girlfriend and I love the Hyatt, but this property fell a little short. Tucked away from the noise yet right next to the heart of Bethlehem and the city's Main Street, the location couldn't be better. Right across the street is a garage where hotel guests park for free with validation. The lobby is wonderful with seating, front desk, breakfast dining area, and an on-site eatery and bar. (The breakfast looked amazing but we can't get up that early.) Pamela and Krishna were exceptional front desk staff that made our stay enjoyable. Our room was large and clean with a great heating and cooling system. There was a problem with the bathroom: The inside door handle was broken. The shower was too small with a strange half-door that even if angled properly, still sent water to the floor. The water remained warm and never got hot. The fitness center isn't much and we passed on the pool and it's milky water. It really looked sickly. Sleeping was great but the major problems occurred on the morning of our departure. Check-out is at noon yet, even with our "do not disturb" sign out, a housekeeper knocked on the door at 10:30 AM while we were sleeping. I think she wanted to make sure we were up to check out on time because she didn't knock on anyone else's door. At checkout, there was no way for me to pick up my girlfriend because six vehicles blocked the small entrance/exit to the property. Even though there's a parking sign for 15 minutes, one SUV remained there for over a half-hour. We will give this property another shot because Hyatt's are usually a step above.

One of the staff “lost” my reservation and could not find it in the system. It was very nerve wracking as check in was Christmas Eve. I will forgive them that their room service was also not working during our stay.
