Great stay staff really friendly

The staff were very accommodating, it was a last minute check in for us as we had lived from elsewhere, the room was great, the food was amazing, and it was great spot for starting out walking

Excellent period hotel, full of charm and quirkiness (it has its own flock of seven resident geese that roam the grounds!) We had a very comfortable and spacious room. Staff were really friendly. The standard of food was top notch. Definitely worth a visit.

Location is perfect especially if you have a dog and are into walking. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Only slight negative which isn't really that big a deal is we had a room with just a shower and pressure was quite poor.

Lovely location, clean, comfortable, quiet with lovely staff. This is not a clinical hotel and has copper pans old photos on the walls and dark wooden furniture, reflective of Dartmoor. The staff were all delightful and the updated bathrooms were a real improvement on 3 years ago. All was good until we checked out. I was surprised to get a bill, having already paid Expedia, this was quickly sorted. Then I received a bill for someone else's drinks that had been put on our room!!. Fortunately we hadn't had dinner there and had kept the receipt from the bar for soft drinks, but a system that appears to rely on honesty needs updating; on leaving the car park we felt a bit let down on an otherwise lovely stay.

The location here is great anx the public areas of the hotel but the foom was not worth the money. It was very small, hardly enough space to put the bags and move around, the view out of our window was a metal stairway from the floor above, it was very hot but we couldnt leave the curtains open to allow the draught in as there were lights right on the outside of the building perpendicular to our room. The tea caddy was also missing teabags. None of these things are major but combined they meant the room was definitely not worth £116 per night. We wont stay there again there are many other b&bs right on the moor with the same standard if not better for a lower price.
