Two Bridges Hotel

A wonderful stay in this beautiful, old, country hotel. The staff were very attentive and many thanks to the manager who helped us make our mini break so special. The food too was outstanding.

I had high expectations of the place before I booked. It is in a great location and I wanted to treat my wife on our 10th anniversary. Our room was located above the kitchen so you could hear the ventilation system constantly running which I can understand as it's an old building but the shouting coming from the chef and loud music really wasn't acceptable. I spoke to the receptionist to ask if we could swap rooms but they said they couldn't do that as the hotel was fully booked, fair enough. But we had got there at 2pm so I suspect not everyone would have checked in so they could have swapped people around. She said she would inform the manager to talk to the chef. Nothing changed so we went downstairs to grab a coffee. Whilst in the queue the woman behind the bar was being very rude to another customer and was glaring at all the customers in the queue, after being made to feel uncomfortable we left. The next morning at breakfast the waitress got huffy and puffy because I wanted the full English Breakfast without the hog and black pudding so I asked to swap them for another slide of bacon and a sausage. On confirming the order she said that I wanted extra bacon and a sausage which I corrected her by saying I wanted to swap, not have extra. She rolled her eyes at me and tutted for a simple miscommunication and also got my partner's order wrong. On check out, there was no questions about our stay, no "have a safe journey" this was the final straw in disappointing stay.

The décor was great, the location was unique, and the ambience was really good. To walk in from a cold and dull day into an expansive seating area with easy sofas and a warm fire was just what and English hotel should provide.

+ Great location, staff helpful but seemed in a hurry, Food great, room comfortable. - No shower but plenty of room for bath shower to be installed at very little cost. No room available to move to? TV so small not worth having, my campervan has a bigger one. very noisy early morning and very late at night.

Only stayed for one night, it was like a little hop back in time, old fashioned, warm and cosy. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the rooms were excellent. Cant fault the place definitely going to stay again.

Very old fashioned in a quintessential way, loved it. The history of the hotel was interesting. The food was superb , couldn't fault it . Will definitely visit again , as the devon cream tea looked amazing.
