Battlesteads Hotel

Great family room with plenty of space. My son really enjoyed the plate of fruit we were given. Great facilities and a really comfy bed. Perfect for a long weekend visiting Hadrian's Wall.

Great place. Very clean and spacious - the room I had anyway. The food was fabulous too, tasty, wholesome and respectable portions. The staff were very helpful. Just right.

A wonderful one night stay that topped our expectations. First class hospitality which even included a dog welcome kit! A great dinner followed by a 12year old Dalmore (who knew!) and a superb breakfast. We highly recommend Battlesteads, great value for money too.

One nights visit, lovely food and breakfast, friendly staff and the Dark Sky Observatory was an excellent evening (hopefully fewer clouds next time).

We had a room with two singles as were quite late in booking the room the room itself was nice, a decent size but the bathroom had a slight smell, not an unclean smell, just a smell. The bar and restaurant was great. The food for our evening meal was lovely and breakfast was really nice as well. We booked to go to the Dark Sky observatory on the night which was really good, not something we have done before. Roy who led the evening was very good, a fantastic knowledge of all things Astronomical. Overall we were very happy with Battlesteads.

Quiet location ideally located for exploring Northumberland.

Conveniently situated for exploring Hadrian's Wall, the National Park & Newcastle. Breakfasts and evening meals were very nicely cooked, although the latter offered a somewhat restricted choice and seemed to remain the same. Staff were obliging and hard working.

This is such a fantastic place to stay. The staff are so friendly and the food is amazing. We stayed in a superior double room and it was perfect, spacious and with a very comfortable bed. Relaxing in the bar is a pleasure, with a roaring fire and a good selection of drinks to choose from. Well placed for a visit to Kielder.

Our room was a good size with all one might expect. A nice touch was a 100ml glass bottle of milk rather than those tiny plastic pots. Toiletries were in refillable bottles. The ensuite was clean and also a good size. A good evening menu was served in a conservatory, but lighter appetites will be content with a starter. The portion of Bread and Butter pudding would satisfy the hungriest. Many of the vegetables are grown in the hotel's own garden. Guests need to book a time to eat both for evenings and breakfast. There is a wide choice for breakfast, and everything is individually served by the staff. There are home-made preserves, but my marmalade was unexpectedly made to a recipe with chilli in it. I would have had jam had I known! The staff could not be more helpful. It looked as if the hotel garden would be very pleasant in summer. We did not investigate the on-site observatory as we had 100% cloud throughout our stay.
