Hôtel Préalpina

I was at school at Prealpina in the 60's when it was still the original majestic building of the 1920s. It is a pity that after its closure it was partly subjected to a soulless and cheap looking rennovation which partly destroyed the original charm of this beautiful building. Avoid booking single rooms on the 5th floor as they lack views.

Very comfortable, big room in the newly furnished hotel. Excellent beds. Quite high up, so mind you if you walk with your suitcases :) friendly staff. Would do with the fridge in the room, but over all- great stay!

The staff were welcoming and most helpful in explaining the local area. The view from our room and our smallish balcony was marvellous. Lots of vineyards, and a wide view of the lake and the mountains (there was some snow on the peaks) The room was a reasonable size - we got an upgrade for a modest additional charge. It was clean and modern - especially the bathroom. Car parking was easy, convenient and included. Breakfast was quite adequate - we took the croissant and coffee option for CHF 5 each - a bargain considering food prices in Switzerland.

Definitely opt for a lake view room, it will not disappoint. We stayed for three nights in early September and would 100% recommend. Fantastic balcony, great bathroom and very quite and dark. The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the train, up/down hill, which was fine by us but worth taking into account. I'd recommend checking out domain bovy for a great wine tasting. There are only a few restaurants in Chexbres and they hold basic hours, but that's some of the charm of this small town.

Breathtaking views, and very friendly and helpful staff, but the room was a bit of a let down. The shower, although lots of hot water, was very cramped. I guess I wash below my waste somewhere else. The bed was two singles pushed together, but in any case, you rolled into the middle of them. Sheets and towels were clean, but I have a tea towel for drying dishes larger than the towel they gave me. I could only stand upright in one half of the room. The window was something like a porthole, although the view from that porthole was incredible. There's no luggage stand. No iron or ironing board, I didn't ask reception, they may have had one to bring up, don't know. Wifi was broken the whole time I was there. Breakfast was excellent. One small plastic cup is all you get, oh, and some cotton buds, so I guess that's handy for someone. If Google maps tell you to enter via the upper driveway, turn around and try to find the other entrance otherwise you risk damaging your car. Driveway needs fixing.

Good location, excellent views of the lake, nice balcony, wonderful restaurant on site, plenty of parking, helpful hostess You'll need to drive to find a restaurant if you don't want to eat at the hotel, room could have been cooler

The hotel is perched above the vineyards of Chexbres and looks over Lake Geneva. Beautiful views. It is just off the highway. Despite that, it was a little hard to find but we finally did. Once there, we enjoyed it very much.

hotel is 10 mins walk up a hill from railway station, my room was on fifth floor, lift only went as far as the fourth floor, it was a attic room with sloped ceiling and small windows, no view off the lake unless you stood on chair to look out of the window. no air conditioning or a fan in the room? great shower and comfy bed. Breakfast was not worth the 18 francs that they charge you, could not get a decent cup of tea. no bar in the hotel, no lounge area either. the staff did speak english which i was very grateful for indeed. it was a clean hotel, but traffic noise from the main road at the back of hotel was slightly annoying , not really value for money . i stayed for 8 days

Adequate but slightly dated hotel with a great view over the lake. Facilities are quite basic and restaurant prices are quite (Caesar salad CHF26)
