Chequers Inn Hotel

Large clean room, it was basic but had everything we needed and located right in the centre of town

The shower was broken and you could hear other guests walking around their rooms

No kitchen facilties. Reception not adequately staffed. Shower head leaked, shower screen did not stop water escaping. No dedicated parking available for the hotel. Wifi was hit and miss.

The inn was ideally placed for my leisure purposes, but the village historic buildings (including the inn) made the trip. the atmosphere at the in with the locals was just wonderful and I became part of the group. Really enjoyed it. The room was as expected with a large and comfortable bed.

With the changing of the management, there was no food available, I should have taken the advice of the staff and gone to the local restaurant; but chose the chip shop (warning they can't produce chips like we have in the North). It was a shame there was no food.

There was no breakfast, kitchen closed and no chef!

Restaurant should be open, advertised breakfast but haven't done breakfast for 5 years! Kitchen closed bar only open when they felt like it.

The hotel consists of rooms above the pub. I had a self check in at rear of pub - the entry is very old and shabby. To be fair the lady I spoke to on the phone advised that the property is undergoing new ownership so perhaps renovation/refubishment plans are in the pipeline. She was friendly and helpful. The room itself was very old fashioned, the en suite was 60's/70's mustard coloured with an old fashioned electric heater on the wall which was a blast from the past. HOWEVER, the room and ensuite were clean and I felt a great effort had been made to ensure the bed looked clean and comfortable. The carpet felt slightly "sticky"underfoot which was slightly off-putting. However it was a clean room and bed and was relatively good value - I simply needed a bed for a night so it served its purpose.

Nice pub and Tiffany was absolutely lovely and really helpful.

The rooms really need an upgrade. When we arrived, all the furniture was on the bed and there was only one towel per room. We did ask for another towel per room but it never arrived

Mmm where to begin…. Restaurant closed completely so no dinner or breakfast Only 1 bath towel in bathroom, no hand towels No milk for tea and coffee in room and tea bags “loose” and all scrunched up Very thin curtains which let in all the light Very strange four poster bed covered in a huge net curtain (though bed was comfy and linen clean and comfy) Wi-Fi patchy for husband and non existent for me!
