HillsNek Safari Camp – Amakhala Game Reserve

The boutique size. The staff were amazing. We were very spoilt. The food was particularly delicious.

The staff are exceptionally attentive and the meals are beautifully prepared. The views are amazing and the accommodation is extremely comfortable. Even on chilly evenings the heaters and electric blanket kept us cosy and warm.

A little chilly in the main lodge on chilly evenings although the open fires and heaters were very welcome.

Einzigartiges Erlebnis! Der Service, die "Zimmer", das Essen, das Safarifeeling ist sehr besonders. Natürlich hat man bei dem Preis auch entsprechende Erwartungen, diese wurden aber auch erfüllt. Die Erinnerungen an tolle Tage bleiben.

Nous avons apprécié le calme du lieu, la décoration des chambres et des espaces communs, la nourriture incroyable ainsi que les game drives et le nature walk avec notre guide Joel. Nous avons pu voir enormement d'animaux.

Tout était parfait mais à noter quand même ces quelques points : - Le véhicule pour les game drives n’a pas de toit, donc en cas de pluie on est mouillé (des ponchos sont proposés). - Les portions de nourriture sont très généreuses, il vaut mieux demander moins ou sauter un plat (entrée ou dessert au dîner). - Une “conservation fee” doit être réglée au moment du départ, à garder en tête pour éviter les mauvaises surprises. - Nous n’avons malheureusement pas vu les léopards.

If I could give HillsNek Safari Camp a billion out of 5, I genuinely would. From the moment we arrived, everything was on another level. We were welcomed with a lovely honeymoon sign, champagne and a fresh fruit platter, such a thoughtful touch that set the tone for the whole stay. The tent was absolutely incredible, honestly incredible, luxurious, beautifully designed, and so well thought out with every detail. The game drives were surreal. We saw the lion walking right beside the truck, pacing up and down as if we weren’t even there. We also saw a giraffe with a four-week-old baby, which was unbelievable. We managed to see 4 out of the Big 5, and every drive felt like something you’d never forget. Our guide Tim was excellent throughout knowledgeable, calm and genuinely made every drive special. The experience never felt rushed, just pure enjoyment from start to finish. The extra touches on every drive were incredible, snacks and drinks at sunrise and sunset stops, hot towels on return, and drinks waiting for us back at camp. Everything was done with such care and attention. Chef Maggie’s food was exceptional every single day, and her gluten-free bread was incredible, honestly incredible. Gary and his team were amazing throughout (and we’re sorry we can’t remember everyone’s names), but the level of warmth and attention to detail from all the staff was outstanding. On our final night, we had dinner set up in the tent to celebrate our honeymoon, which was such an amazing touch and the perfect ending to our two-week trip. You genuinely could not find something wrong with this place if you tried. It’s one of the most special experiences we’ve ever had, and we’ll be talking about it forever.
