"FANTASTIC hotel!"

10.0

This is a wonderful small hotel in the center of town. Rooms are immaculately clean, bed was comfortable, room was spacious, and location is great. Simone, the owner, is a superb host. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this to anyone looking for a hotel in Montalcino.

"Super beliggenhed"

10.0

"Peace, freedom, views, and relax"

10.0

If it was possible to give 7/5 I would do it. There is not a single thing I could think of to suggest to improve a thing. The host, his gracious mother, his staff in the wine shop below are the best of the best. The apartment? The moment I stepped inside I felt at home, relaxed, able to claim this space as mine for the duration and 'live there' not feel like I am crammed in someone else's room. Put your bags down, make a tea or coffee, or pour a wine and open wide the doors to the blacony, look onto an ancient fortezza or across the ancient rooftops to the mountains beyond. It's breathtaking. Or lean over the balcony rail and just watch the goings on below, or sit back in the sun lounges with your feet up on the rail. Sun too hot? Roll out the huge sun shade. Set the table on the balcony for a twilight supper or just lounge inside with the doors open and that delicious Montalcino cool breeze flowing over you. And when you start to yawn you have an actual 'bedroom' to go into, a separate room. The luxury after so many hotel rooms! Relax. Sleep deep in the king sized bed with comfortable pillows. Keep the window open but shutters closed or close the window for total quiet. Relax. The bathroom is well equipped and with everything you will need, generously stocked with good quality towels, hand towels, bidet towels, bath mat, heating, hair drier, soaps and shampoo. The shower is good and spacious, and newly tiled, with a closing door so the water doesnt run everywhere (a problem in some places) and the plumbing is good. Water runs fast and drains fast (also can be a problem in many places). The kitchen is new, clean, functional, and has a 2 burner gas top and range hood, plus mini fridge. You will find saucepans and cooking gear that you need if you want to cook (there is a coop for supplies and Friday is open air market day which is a great way to spend the morning) and you will also find a variety of Simone's own wines on a wall rack. Security. I felt completely safe in this place. There is a strong wooden door at the entrance that requires a key, then the key to your own room/apartment. But even without it I felt completely safe. There were no undesirables that hang around and the cleaning staff were helpful and lovely, and the town itself became like an old friend by the time I left there. No matter what your reason for booking, whether it be to hide away and relax, kick up your heels and have some holiday fun, Simone seems to have a 6th sense on what his various guests needs are, and is helpful in steering you in directions you will love. I fell in love with Montalcino here. I hope you do too.

"Fabulous apartment!"

10.0

This is a wonderful place to stay in Montalcino because it is next to the fortezza! There are 4 rooms and an apartment on the top floor with a large balcony that has a spectacular view of the the whole area! At night it is quiet, and it is wonderful to open all the windows to enjoy the lights of the town and listen to the church bells. Enjoy dinner and a glass of wine on your balcony, and the town is yours! Simone is a wonderful host.

"Clean and Spartan "

8.0

This is a good location in Montalcino. Stairs of course, no breakfast provided but lots of lovely cafe's close by. It's air conditioned, it's very hot here in late summer. The only odd thing we had to deal with was a shortage of toilet paper, we had to request it every single day of our stay.

Room above a wine store in Monte Alcino. Drink on arrival. What more can we say. Clean, tidy room was just the job on a room only basis on our travels. Handy parking - free with the permission of local arrangement.

"Great location in beautiful Montalcino!"

10.0

We loved staying at Barlanzone. Simone was away on holiday with his family, so he had a lovely woman greet us. Room is very clean and comfy. We overlooked the beautiful valley and the fort. Our only complaint is the parking situation in the town. We had the female parking police follow us throughout town while we were trying to find a place to park (before we got the parking permit). She was not nice or helpful at all!!! So, we finally found a one hour free space, and then finally moved into the permit parking lot. We left Monday morning at 9:20 only to find out that we got a parking ticket at 9:02AM !!! Since there was no one at the hotel, we went to the police station who sent us to city hall. There, low and behold was the parking woman...again! I had my husband drive around while I went in to dispute the ticket only to be informed that we couldn't park there on Monday from 9AM to 8PM because it was street cleaning day. So, 28 Euro later.... We did happen upon the only remaining winery inside the walled city,Padelletti, which we thououghly enjoyed touring and tasting. Lucia was a dear and spent a lot of time with us. Purchased a bottle of Brunello to take home with us. Did other tastings in town also. Great little village with magnificent views!
