Penny Farthing Hotel & Cottages

The location is perfect for it's proximity to the New Forest and is just off the High Street. Lots of lovely individual shops for browsing on wet days and some great places to eat out at a reasonable price. My dog was given a sausage for breakfast every morning - the hotel staff are very dog friendly and the bedroom was large enough to accommodate us both.

The bathroom is looking a little tired, but the cleanliness and overall comfort of the room made up for that.

Location centre of the village, only stayed 1 night and the room suited perfectly with car park at the back. Breakfast and staff where nice. Pub 50 yards away The White Rabbit has good food too

Main bedroom mattress was way too soft and did not get a good sleep.

The hotel is minutes from the high street and access to the New Forest. 2 minutes walk to The White Rabbit for good food. Parking on site is handy. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I am gluten and lactose intolerant and the breakfast offered options, plus they put oat milk in my room. Bed was very comfy.

The shower didn't work properly (Sunbeam room). Running from very cold to very hot. I mentioned it to the office staff and they are going to investigate it. Otherwise, it was a lovely stay.

The car park was good.

Traffic noise from the road outside was loud and continuous. It continued until 1.30am and it started again a 6.30am with no chance of sleeping through it. I had read the reviews that spoke about the traffic noise and had contacted the hotel asking if they would give us a room at the back of the hotel, overlooking the car park. I received a response from 'Susan' who said 'We will do our utmost to accommodate your request'. She did NOTHING to accommodate our request so we had three nights with little or no sleep. On a relatively more minor point our room was not serviced during our stay apart from replenishing the instant coffee sachets. We were left to clean our own coffee cups and the rest.

Breakfast was good and staff very helpful and pleasant.
