Friendly helpful staff. Two restaurants on site and plenty of drinking / dining close by in busy lively area. Room was generally good however last day smell of drain from I think an adjacent soil vent pipe entered room making last evening a little unpleasant

Room very modern and large. Only problem i had was lack of ability to keep the room cool in the middle of summer.

This has to be the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. To start, the hotel advertised a free car park at the back. What it doesn't mention is it I ky fits about 10 cars so it's first come first served, and everyone has to double park blocking each other in. So if you go out for the night, leave the car and go to work early in the morning, or have a few drinks, its like a madhouse trying to get your car either in, out or shaken all about. Then your room is lucky of the drawer. If you get a room on the first floor (which start with a 2 weirdly), you might be oK. These rooms have air conditioning and are sized not too bad. If you get a room on the second floor, which starts with a 3, don't expect to get ANY sleep. The room was about 40 degrees and unbearable. The hotel had kindly left a small fan in the room which did absolutely nothing for anyone. When I complained about it I was told by the very disinterested member of staff "Oh, everyone says that. Nothing I can do.". Maybe if EVERYONE says that DO something about it, like out air conditioning in! If you're REALLY unlikely your room isn't even in the hotel, but is another building about 100 yards down the street. So out you go whether rain or shine across the road, and if your car is left blocking someone who else in outside you can expect to get dragged back over at 7am the next morning to let them out. The rooms themselves aren't great at all, there were cracks in the ceiling, the shower was huge but the pressure of the water was a trickle and the shower was filthy with mould. Most strangely of all in my room a huge wooden shelf had been built at the end of the bed as a TV stand, but which took up about 20% percent of the whole room and was entirely unnecessary and awkward. The staff were polite but didn't care much about anything you asked if them. If you have any mobility issues forget it as there no lifts and the stairs are pretty steep. On the first day my bed was made but none of the used crockery was replaced, on the second day no one made up the room and a large pile of rubbish was left outside in the corridor for about 4 hours. There are no pillow or mattress protectors, and when we stripped the bed ourselves before we checked out we discovered both the pillows and mattresses were covered in some very unhappy stains. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Awful

Good for an overnight stay - no chef to cook breakfast so gave a refund and we went to the cafe around the corner

Arrived at Cairn Hotel to be told we were down the road at Carlton. We had a notification of this possibility after we had booked. Parking at back entry amongst skips bins and house clearance rubbish. A few double parking spaces which meant being trapped from behind by another car or trapping someone in. Climbed 4 flights of stairs with luggage, no lift or assistance. Room at front opposite Waitrose Supermarket, shabby and tired. Student revellers deafening till late every night. Other occupants coming and going all night. Waitrose delivery van at 7am each morning. Breakfast unavailable first day. Second day at Holiday inn 20 minutes walk away. Breakfast third day tolerable . Miserable attitude to providing refund to make absolutely sure not a penny more than we paid in the package was refunded.

Bit tired and not the cleanest. Noisy hall ways until about 3am.

The room was small and unbearably hot. The bathroom was pretty good and the best feature of the room. Most of the security features inside the hotel were disabled. The room wasn't serviced during our stay. The parking is useful but double parking is allowed which could have been inconvenient though didn't cause problems for us

Great stay. We were across the road in the sister hotel which was nice. Great quality stay for the price point. Free parking with a bit of juggling, the staff were excellent at facilitating the spaces. We stayed 2 nights, close to the city and restaurants, and a little Waitrose across the road. Very comfortable stay and great shower. Nice to have a little fridge on the room too. Would definitely use again.

Everything perfect. Lock on bathroom was stiff and I got locked in. But other than that. Perfect
