Seashell Havelock

The experience here has been extremely mediocre. Sadly, expectations aren’t met if one is looking for a fine stay and dining experience at all. Cottages are the most infuriating with supremely narrow steps leading to a dimly lit bedroom on the first floor and a basic bathroom on the ground floor. There is always a risk of slipping and missing foot when one is not conscious. Even the staff falls down these flight of stairs with trays and luggage. Don’t know what the architect and owners were thinking. The team needs to learn to smile and interact more and in a proper fashion. The girls at reception desk are grim faced once check-in is done. Food is mere average, so the chefs require some brushing up of skills. If one is looking for a beach experience, this isn’t the place as the rocky beach front only provides access to scuba and snorkel. A huge shout out and the only best part about Coral Cove is the Skuba team led by Nigel and Andy and their warm, brilliant, and skilled team of instructors. They will be fondly remembered and we would dive into the sea again only with them. A thank you to Michael as well for a great kayaking experience. In a nutshell, Coral Cove is nothing but an average hotel and which does not meet any expectations.

Close to jetty . Claimed to be near a private beach but that was actually a shore used for diving boats etc rather than a Sandy beach for bathing / relaxing . Staff are helpful and courteous. We did a couple dinner which was awesome.

General condition not good . Rooms need a refurbishment . There was some mould on the shower ceiling . Hot water was scanty and used to run out after 4-5 minute of use . We spotted a snake in the resort garden area ( did report it to the staff , who seemed casual about it - I suppose it is a common occurrence considering the overall climate of the place ). Wi-Fi available but very erratic and slow . Frequent power cuts - but backup generator seemed to work ok . Payment system was very cumbersome - instead of simply taking the payment from the credit card on file , the resort has a policy of sending payment demand by SMS few weeks before the date of arrival .. paid using my card using the link provided but was unsure about its validity as it had come out of the blue .

The place is vast and lush, surrounded by a beautiful coconut grove and a mangrove-lined beach. The staff is courteous, and the service is exceptional. The in-house restaurant stands out as one of the fanciest in Havelock. They offer a range of activities, including a marine trail, scuba diving, and trekking. We tried the marine trail and scuba diving—while not cheap, both were absolutely worth it. Surprisingly, the lobster here was priced similarly to roadside eateries in Havelock, even though the rest of the menu is quite expensive.

The entire property, including the rooms, is very dimly lit. While some may find this ambiance appealing, I personally found it a bit annoying. The breakfast spread is good, but after a couple of days, it starts to feel repetitive and monotonous.

The ambience and the private beach

The lighting in the resort as well as the rooms were too dim. At least the lighting in the rooms should be improved even if the same is not done outside to preserve the wild life

Room was clean and well located, Size was good, Could do better with a few more amenities.

The property is set on a big, very well maintained piece of lush green land. The view from its beach is beautiful. The 2 restaurants on the property serve tasty food. The staff are very courteous and go beyond their remit to make guests feel special, especially those in the restaurants.

Both the rooms that I had booked had very mouldy/ damp smell. It was so bad that I couldn’t sleep on the 1st night. The bedding was changed upon complaint, which reduced the smell to an extent but not completely. I caught a very bad cold at the property (which I am still suffering from), and suspect it is due to the damp in the room.
