The Bell Hotel Thetford by Greene King Inns

Room was adequate, bathroom is in desperate need of a refurbishment. Our window was over the function room / car park and was very noisey, had to leave window open as there is no air conditioning in the rooms. We only ate at the hotel on Sunday evening, when they had run out of roasts, had limited menu, which was further restricted as their fryer had broken down. Not value for money at £100 per night.

As soon as we got there it felt off we wasn’t happy with the creaky floor boards and lopsided floors. The smell was damp and musky we thought we would give the room a chance soon as we got in we quickly darted straight back out there was huge cracks in the ceiling and spiders on the ceiling and all in the bathroom and bath. The grout was orange and mouldy and just felt like the roof or floor would cave in. The pictures on websites do NO JUSTICE they are selling completely opposite to what website offers. Wouldn’t recommend. Very old very used and outdated really needs freshening up and a lot fixing And cleaning. Although staff were kind and friendly

Helpful staff and bathroom was not cleaned

The hotel was reasonable with excellent affordable dining It was a bit noisy but that was due to the location rayher than the hotel which was reasonably quiet The room was fine albeit bit dated but the bed was very comfy The one thing that let it down was the state of the bath It had obvious not had a deep clean for months It had brown run marks all round the inside and there was build-up of dirty hard scale round tap end and plug hole. We did not feel able to use it at all. We came back late and left quote early so did not have the energy for the 4 flights of stairs again to go and complain We are both nearly 80 It was a shame that a 10 minute job or a regular proper clean spoilt the night.

Lovely old hotel. Staff were lovely. Food excellent

The bathroom was shocking for the money we paid. The bath was covered in dirty limescale and unusable. The sink took ages to drain and the toilet bowl trap needed a scrub. The bed was comfortable and clean but the windows were filthy on the outside and part of the pelmet was broken and hanging down. We appreciate that the building is old but you need to do better Greene King and spend more on maintenance.

One night stop-over on a bike ride. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful but the place needs a thorough overhaul as it is tired.

Our experience was ruined by the very poor service at breakfast. Despite reminders to the staff serving, including warnings that as a diabetic on insulin I could not afford to wait for fear of hypoglaecimia , the breakfast had not apeared even after a 40 minute wait. We were therefore forced to leave without it and eat elsewhere. I should be obliged to receive apropriate compensation for this poor experience

Easy check in. Large room. Tea coffee. Good television wifi. Had to log in. Good bed. Large bathroom/shower towels. Plenty of hot water. Good choice breakfast and bar restaurant. A period building with character and furnishings in the town center with reasonable views at a good price. Clean tidy pleasant staff.

Hotel itself was very good. The staff were second to none, all very friendly and helpful. The rooms were adequate and a good size. Only downside was, the whole place could do with a good lick of paint and a bit of tic, as it’s looking a bit tired. Other than that it’s fine, and yes I would stay there again.
