Breakfast was excellent with a full choice of continental or cooked . Staff were very help full and provided good service. Would definitely stay again.

15th century building still hanging on.

Really tired and dated.

I chose this hotel as it was the most convenient for my visit the following day. On arrival, I was greeted by a gentleman who explained where breakfast was served the following day, room location and how to gain entry if I was still out after the main doors were secured for the night. There is no lift to the upper floor, but a stairlift was installed was those with difficulties with stairs. Whilst on my way to my room, it was evident that some money and care needed to be invested. The carpet was threadbare in places, on arrival at my room it was adequate. However, the curtain lining was ripped in places, and wallpaper was coming off the wall behind the radiator. A distinct lack of electrical sockets and USB sockets. The shower was good and provided hot water. I had an evening meal in the bar, the food was hot and well presented, there was a delay in my dessert, and I had to remind the lady that I had ordered a dessert. During the evening, we had a very bad storm, resulting in a severe leak from the roof whereby water came through the ceiling to the rooms corridor and to the kitchen level. Staff coped with this with professionalism and apologised for the inconvenience. Breakfast was OK. Fresh coffee, choice of cereals, and breakfast choice. As this property is owned by a large brewing company, I was surprised that with the history and location, money had not been invested. No doubt this is down to the company executive, and I think this is a terrible oversight. I would stay again, but only in steps had been taken towards maintenance.

Great location. Dinner was good.

The room was a bit tired looking. Curtains didn't block out the light.

Very old building . Long walk up stairs and 2 corridors to room. No lift !

Very basic amenities. Head almost touches the ceiling standing in bath to shower.

The quality of service from the young man attending the reception desk when we checked in. Our room was on the second floor, no lift, my partner has COPD so stairs were difficult, especially the second flight. The young man attending us found a room on the first floor which made life considerably better.

An evening function was a little loud until midnight on Saturday
