The George Christchurch

Wonderful stay - the entire team was very helpful and welcoming, and as a Hhonors diamond member was upgraded to a lovely suite with a slightly late checkout (would have been later if the hotel wasn't full). Calling to check if the room was ok after arrival was a nice touch, and sending up a welcome drink of choice was above and beyond. Super comfortable bed, wonderful location right on the park and walkable to city centre.

From the minute we walked in the door we felt welcomed. We had lunch in the bistro which was awesome, we had the gourmet package, therefore got to have dinner and breakfast too which was great. Close location to the city.

The hotel is perfectly located opposite Hagley Park with beautiful views over the river. We are very appreciative that the hotel honoured our request for a room overlooking the park and internal garden, which was wonderfully peaceful. The rooms are very well planned with thoughtful amenities and the beds are some of the most comfortable we've experienced in any hotel. The dining experiences and concierge services are spot on. We really enjoyed our interactions with the staff who were warm and welcoming; and their customer service is exemplary.

The Georges naturally friendly staff really are the highlight here along with the perfect location - can’t wait to stay again at this wonderful property!

The George remains a class act. Such engaging and obliging staff - a particularly excellent bar person made our night, as did the welcoming concierge. The restaurant was excellent - helped by said staff. The room was spacious and elegant, mini-bar offerings were exceptional - particularly when compared to other hotels we have stayed recently. The bed was really comfortable and everything worked - this may sound basic, but it isn't a given. The heated tile floor in the bathroom was particularly welcome. I wish we could have stayed another couple of days, and we will definitely be back.

We only stayed one night, but loved the location for the ease of walking to Christchurch highlights. We arrived early, and while our room was not yet ready, we were welcomed warmly by the lovely front desk clerk, offered coffee, luggage storage, and parking in the lot. She told us she would call when our room was ready, but never did…never mind, as when we returned from exploring, we were able to go directly to our room. The room was comfortable and functional with a great large bed that provided sound sleep. Breakfast the following morning was exceptional, with the young man serving us providing perfect service.

The George was a slice of heaven for our very short stay - the staff were fanastic, the room service & freebies exceptional, and the suite was very comfartable, spacious and luxurious.

The George was a wonderful property located in Christchurch, with phenomenal customer service and spacious rooms. Free parking and within walkable distance of downtown locations and restaurants. Would highly recommend staying here purely due to the customer service!
