The George Christchurch

Wonderful stay and excellent service. Good water pressure. Comfy beds. Nice breakfast selection. Walkable to many restaurants, gardens and shops. Impeccably clean rooms . We loved our stay.

Matress was very tired( rolling out on both sides), Shower ceiling needed cleaning,TV failed and was unable to be repaired. Expensive given the above.

I loved staying at The George; it was especially busy with work, so the excellent service and comfort really helped. I highly recommend them.

We had a nice stay at The George. I had to work over my birthday but wanted to stay somewhere nice on my only night off. We checked in early in the morning and left our bags, popped out to explore, got back in time for sunset over Hagley Park and had a cup of tea went up to our room upon check-in and then we opted to try the cocktail of the month at the bar. Nice facilities, free car parking onsite, bed comfy, good shower pressure but there is a raised lip just before the door in the bathroom that we keep tripping and kicking our toes on, tv functional, we couldn’t find usb charging port in the room, the only available bench space in the kitchenette area is taken up by mini bar advertising which means it feels cramped and consequently there is nowhere for you to pop your tea and coffee cups down, the kettle has to be plugged in on the bench beneath the tv away from where it is stowed. An easy fix would be to move the mini bar advertising or install a floating shelf for it and put a plug beneath where the tea,coffee and kettle are stowed. The staff were lovely. The cooked breakfast was excellent, the French toast and mushroom benedict in particular. The continental breakfast was nicely laid out and had much variety but we opted for hot options only. A cute travel George bear was left on the bed which was a nice touch. Overall, we would return.

This is pretty much our Christchurch go to. It's right on beautiful Hadley Park and if you have the right room, you may even see the park from your window (if not, just walk across the road to explore the park). There is on site parking on the premises, which is very convenient if you have a car. Rooms are well appointed and have everything you will need. Love the turndown service, with special treats on your first night like chocolates, petit fours, bottled water and the adorable George bear you can keep. Staff were friendly and helpful and everything was just a breeze. We will be back.

We had planned to drop off our bags at the hotel and go for a walk before 11am. However, the weather wasn’t kind, so we waited in the lobby. We didn’t expect to check in so early, but the hotel kindly offered us a room. While we were waiting, they provided us with complimentary coffee and tea. It was such a kind gesture and excellent service. Thank you very much—we really enjoyed our stay at The George Hotel.

The George! Fabulous hotel. We had three nights in a Park View Suite on the fifth floor. So spacious, with glorious views over Hagley Park. Large bathroom, with a double shower and bathtub. The relatively large and well-stocked kitchenette was very useful. Highly recommend the High Tea in the lovely restaurant. While we absolutely loved our room, I think the best part of our stay were the staff - all our interactions were friendly, relaxed and helpful. We were even given a warm cloth on our arrival - a little touch to make this place special. And even more special: the adorable teddy bear we were given on our first night to take home with us. If you are going to Christchurch, you must consider this hotel. We will definitely be back.
