The George Christchurch

An excellent hotel in a excellent location. Rooms are wonderful and so is the food. The best food we ate on our New Zealand trip. Staff are very welcoming and helpful.

This is a very nice hotel, clean and the bed was very comfortable. Awesome, friendly staff. Our room was on the end, next to the street so had a bit of noise throughout the evening, but left the fan on to help. Across the street from the park which was very pleasant to walk around. Easy walk to town center.

The George is well positioned, and has a good feel about it when you enter. We've stayed here several times, but not for some years. Sadly, on this occasion we were disappointed in that while every staff member we dealt with was superb, the hotel didn't quite stack up. Bistro 50 has a good vibe, however we considered the menu was lacking variety, no wild meals and few vegetarian options. Our room was also underwhelming. The pillows weren't up to the mark, and our bathroom tap prevented access to cold water, due to its position against the mirror. One positive thing was having a nightlight.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this delightful boutique hotel. Comfortable rooms, great breakfast and bar. Staff were wonderful. Only a few minutes walk to restaurants and wine bars.

The George Hotel is great. The staff is lovely. Our room was perfect and spacious. I would like to say thank you to Nicole, Matt, Mark and April for making our stay easier. Special Thanks from the bottom of my heart to Nicole and Matt for helping me when Richard wasn't well last Thursday. Really appreciate it. We miss you guys already. With love Celina and Richard

What can I say re The George. A lovely boutique property with rooms, amenities & especially staff to match! A warm welcome on arrival from Brian the concierge, followed by a suprise upgrade for my husband's birthday, to a parkview suite. It was a beautifully appointed room with a great view over the park & nightly turndown. Kitchenette, seperate lounge & a wonderfully comfortable bed. The bathroom was spacious with a double shower, bath heated floors & towel racks. A request for gluten free beer for hubby was met which made him VERY happy. Plus we received a cuddly George bear to take home. We didn't dine in apart from brekkie which was lovely, but enjoyed a few drinks in the bar. Easy 15 min walk to town but several decent restaurants an easy stroll away. Can't wait to return.

Great hotel in a great location. We had a Residence Room. It was very beautiful with windows that open and a great park view. The room was very well appointed with a small kitchen and the most comfortable bed ever. The best part is turn down. What a great surprise and delight! The only negatives were the TV didn't work. It would just turn off randomly (we did forget to tell reception about it) and the stairs to our room were steep and narrow. As beautiful as the residence is, we would opt for an alternate room next time. Service is amazing and the restaurant/ room service quality of food and service is fabulous.

Fabulous service from the moment we arrived until we left. Great meal in the 50 Bistro. Loved our stay, just a pity it was only 1 night. George the Bear will continue on holiday with us and he'll share our adventures!
