Restaurant food in the evening was good. Staff were polite.

Arranged breakfast for 0730 - no staff arrived until 0740 unfortunately were on a tight schedule so had to leave without breakfast. Rooms, Bar and Restaurant were very cold and uninviting. Half the bulbs in bathroom were not working. No Cups or Tea Bags on tray in room so had to request these. Dirty carpets in room. Poor quality bedding.

I booked this hotel for a colleague. There was a mix up with the payment of the invoice, so I tried to contact site on several occasions to be told that I couldnt be helped until after 5pm, which doesnt help those customers whose accounts departments work 9-5pm. It took several attempts and some frustrating phone calls to eventually pay.

Staff availability, flexibility and understanding

Clean and bright with ample parking. Excellent breakfast and room was comfortable

We were the only guests on first night and only one more car with guests for 2nd night. However the room allocated by them or booking.com was at the highest and furthest point. Internet did not reach the room and the sloping ceiling meant reversing on the toilet. Also a leaky shower tray. We are pensioners and being put in the least accessible room with a cramped bathroom was not the greatest. However the staff and ambiance matched the price paid. Perhaps a warning could be available when booking?

Pleasant staff, comfy warm room, small but adequate bathroom & nice breakfast. Good value for money.

Nothing really but probably the hotel/ room looked a little tired!

Gone downhill

No heating in the room. Staff were slow to fix it and could only be dealt with with a noisy heater.

The single staff member we saw from check in to breakfast the next day was lovely. Can’t fault the room for being quiet an warm despite it being a cold night. The location is lovely and we enjoyed looking out over the ducks and kingfisher on the mill pond over breakfast.

Sheene Mill these days does what is says on the tin. It is a decent option if you are staying in the area, but don’t expect anything more than a basic hotel. Appreciating we stayed over the Christmas period on 27.12 it was very quiet with no one in reception and bar shut when we arrived. Our room (room 4) would be very generously described as a “deluxe double room”. The bed was small and uncomfortable and one pillow was decent and the other the height of a deflated pancake. It took 50 minutes for us to be served a basic breakfast for 2 people. Overall it was fine and served the purpose for somewhere to stay nearby family but I would not recommend as anything close to a destination option.
