Hotel Bakkara

I came to Kiev for 2 weeks - business and pleasure. I travel a lot, first time for me in Ukraine. Found Bakara hotel on the hotels.com website. Glad I did. The good: Spacious rooms, if you take the riverside you get great rooms. Balconies. Restaurant downstairs which is a little pricey for Ukraine but still convenient The bad The location is a little far from the center The best: Seriously - the staff. I can not say enough good things about them. It's not just one person. Anna, Yelena, Nikita, Petro all went out of their way to help me on a daily basis.

I HAVE STAYED AT BAKKARA MANY TIMES NOW AND HAVE ALWAYS FOUND THE STAFF WONDERFUL AND THE FOOD GREAT SO WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO GO ANY WHERE ELSE IT IS LIKE PARADISE

A hotel on the water, well, a barge turned nice hotel. The room was spacious. The bed was nice but not great. I did miss a bathtub instead of just a shower, but... The staff were definitely helpful and friendly. I had mixed results with English, but they had several languages each. Location is waterfront, between two metro stations, each a reasonable walk. The one has several restaurant/ pubs which had (western standards) amazing prices. The breakfast in house... Not western, and I wasn't a fan.

The food was great and good value The Reception staff are just wonderful Dariya and Victoria where just wonderful and lovely as nothing was a problem PETRO well this man is amazing and his helpful and friendly service is just one reason I will always come back to BAKKARA as he makes it feel like you are part of the family Also the porter Lucikla is also so wonderful and helpful as nothing is a problem for him These staff that you have make your hotel great Most of the girls in the restaurant are great but there was a few that just didn't feel happy or make you feel welcome but in general they where great as well

Came to visit mothers birthplace and wanted to be near Holodomor museum. Very picturesce setting on the river and beautifully kept gardens and surrounds. we were able to walk across the river to visit the memorial and the monastry district. the accommodation was compact but adequate for our needs. meals were lovely with a variety of authentic Ukranian meals " just like mother used to make". Borsch, Chicken soup, varenike,and potatoe patties with sour cream were all delish... The breakfasts were also very lavish with a variety of well presented cooked foods, cerials and fresh fruits, juices, meats cheeses pastries and lovely pancakes with lavish spreads. Well positioned outdoor dining area with comfort blankets and gorgeous views along city skyline, wonderful for evening dining. Exquisite by night. Secure car parking was great.

I really enjoyed my stay. Will go back. Absolut nice staff. Perfect English and very helpfull young people. Had in first a bit loud neighbours. I just said this and they just give me another one. They suggested this. Good restaurant and the averall atmosphere is nice. The only thing. The isolation of the rooms can be better. But otherwise I am very happy with my stay there. The room with river view is great. And all is very clean. I stayed 10 days and I do not regret one minut of it. It all depends on the person also. Had a nice experience... and Kiev is a beautifull city. Luc from Belgium

Great experience. Very nice view of the river from the water-side rooms. Quiet, peaceful, safe, clean. the staff are terrific. 10 minute walk to Metro, 3 stops from center of city. Taxi service good and inexpensive. Negatives: 1. room to room sounds. 2. the restaurant, which does not belong to the hotel, is overpriced and has menus only in Russian and English (and none in Ukrainian), and the staff of the restaurant seems reluctant to respond to customers in Ukrainian.
