Wayside Inn Bed and Breakfast

The breakfast that Joe prepares is absolutely terrific. Joe is an exceptional host with a great customer service approach and attitude. The hospitality was spot on. He was easy to communicate with prior to arriving as I was going to arrive after check-in hours which ended up being no problem. Definitely will return when I have the opportunity.

I could have missed it in the description when booking but would have liked to know that I had to go up several flights of stairs prior to booking. Wasn't a problem, just was surprised was all.

We enjoyed our brief 1-day stay at the Wayside Inn in Ellicott City, MD. Joe the Innkeeper was gracious, welcoming, and attentive and offered insights regarding the history of the B&B and prior owners who essentially established the inn. The features of the inn were consistent with many online reviews. Our room, the Pierpoint deluxe suite, was specious and comfortable. A really nice poster bed and great shower. The views were also nice. Wish it had been winter and we could have used the fireplace. As noted in other reviews, the floors were extremely squeaky, though to be expected from a historic building. Staircase could be a little tricky for older guests, though we were fine. Breakfast was quite tasty and Joe was proud of his culinary skills. It would have been great if more tea choices were available, and other amenities like espresso. Entrance and front and backyards could benefit from maintenance to remove overgrown flora and enhance the beauty of the property. Lastly, wishing that the owner had more branded mugs in stock (like other B&Bs we have stayed at) so that we could have purchased as a keepsake and helped promote his brand… Thanks to Joe for his hospitality!

I loved the location. It is a hidden treasure. And with Joe at the helm cooking breakfast and being a great host, I couldn't have picked a better place to stay.

We stayed one night in the family suite. The home is so charming!! Our bed was incredibly comfortable and I slept like the dead. The breakfast was delicious, as well. Also appreciated the VIP comp of sparkling wine. I’d stay again.

The bed and breakfast had a historic charm, the decor was lovely and the host was phenomenal! He was very attentive and an excellent chef!

It was a bit chilly especially at night.

It was nice to have a fireplace and tub. It was a little weird that we had to ask the owner to come up and light the fireplace and the tub can’t be used late at night or early in the morning. I’ve never run into that at any other property.

The room was extremely small. Minor and maybe expected in a historic property but there were no available outlets to charge phones other than the bathroom. The bed could not have been a queen. I’m certain it was just a full. It was decent enough for one night. There were little things that could have made it nicer. The only tea option at breakfast was green tea. There were also no options at breakfast, just one meal that was served to all. No variations. It was French toast and a fried egg which was fine but would have been nice to ask if we wanted scrambled or fried, or at least allowed us to decide on syrup. It came with syrup poured on. I’m not a fan and would have preferred without. There’s a parlor room but it wasn’t clear if guests could use it. It wasn’t decorated in the same style as the rest of the house and wasn’t super welcoming but it was right off the entry. More lights and a sign indicating where to go would help. Parking is in the back and you either have to go up a bunch of steps to the sunroom in back or walk around the front of the house.

A vintage house that has been nicely restored, lovely grounds and an accommodating host. Breakfast was good and nicely presented.

This place was amazing. The room was clean. The host was so accommodating. Everything met and exceeded my expectations! The breakfast was delicious too! I loved the jacuzzi tub. The entire stay was so relaxing! I didn’t want to leave.
