Wayside Inn Bed and Breakfast

Got in very late (1am) and Joe was super accommodating! We slept well in the comfortable bed on the 3rd Fl (Betty’s room). This B&B is so charming, I think it’s from 1790! The next day we explored Old Elicott Coty and went to a show at Post Merriweather Pavillion. The breakfast the next day was delicious and huge! Joe gave us some history and it was fun hearing his story! Would def stay again! No elevators for those who can’t do stairs just an FYI.

The owner is so friendly and helpful. As soon as you walk through the door, you feel you're at home. Will definitely be back for another stay!!

Location is wonderful, we loved being so close to downtown Ellicott City and Columbia. The room was very nice, and the big bathroom with the jacuzzi tub was great!. The host was very nice.

The property itself is just average, and our room description said "lake view" It was definitely more of a small pond. This is a historic home, and that is part of it's charm, and we were not expecting anything fancy. But the house definitely in need of some renovation. The floors were so creaky that we didn't even want to walk around in our room, and when other people were walking in the hallways, and in their rooms, it was very loud. It was great for one night, but I don't think we would have wanted to stay longer. Breakfast was good, but other than being asked if we had any dietary restrictions, there were no choices in what we were served for breakfast.

Beautiful old home. The inn keeper was very accommodating and the breakfast was good. Quiet area close to Ellicott city.

Well worth the getaway. Joe was engaging and provided a beautifully presented and delicious breakfast. Looking forward to a return engagement!

Joe was an excellent host; very attentive and accommodating to my special needs. The breakfasts he prepared were divine! The bed and sheets were SO comfortable, and the towels were also nice and fluffy. The historical ambiance and significance remain intact!

I was concerned with the sidewalk lights being unlit at night, approximately 3/4 of them were out. Also, and this is a really sore subject for me: My grandparents, Dr. and Mrs. Charles A. Nitsch were the individuals who restored this lovely home back in the early 1960's, NOT the Hartkopf family! They may have made additional changes but they did NOT pioneer the original modern day restoration. After having lived there as a child in the summertimes, I am well acquainted with the inn's history. Over the years since first viewing the website's history page, I have written to correct this false narrative, to no avail. Please give credit where credit is due.

Super host! Wonderful breakfast. Quite and comfortable.
