Happy Bear Motel

If your coming to enjoy outdoor activities and just need a place to sleep, this is it.

Easy check in, easy access to mountain. Noisy but its a motel, so what do you expect? For the price and the location I would highly recommend.

I had to clean bathroom myself when I arrived with my own cleaning disinfectant. Was disgusting—hair on bathroom ground all around and used toilet with residue on seat. Absolutely disgusting. TV didn’t even work! And management knew because they said what are you in room 4?! Management was unsympathetic after notifying them about family emergency and having to return home 15 minutes after arrival and 3.5 hour ride. Lied to me about owner not being there and only being named RaJ when I asked for his full name to speak with him. Said nobody has ever left their hotel early for an emergency when I asked what has happened I. Past. This place should not be on Killington access road…..out of place.

Nasty

The owners/host were very friendly. Great that you can check in late. However, this was both the most expensive and the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Really needs to be priced cheaper given the condition or updated to make you feel like you didn't just get ripped off. Great location, that helped for sure.

Staff was rude, immediately assumed the worst of me being a 23 year old female. Got disrespected and told off before even beginning my stay. Found garbage and old Chinese food in our room.

I stayed in room #10. Though the furnishings were old, it was clean and functional. Great location with short walk to restaurants. I ordinarily stay at 4 and 5 star accommodations and based on other reviews I was expecting it to be a poor experience. I found the negative reviews did not apply.

Red and brown stains spotting all sides of both box springs in 104, hopefully not signs of bedbugs… I asked for a refund and they gave it with no questions asked, which felt even sketchier. We left immediately.

We weren’t able to go do to a winter storm. We did not get any of our money back or any concession at all (discount for next time, etc). We will find a different place to stay the next time we go to Killington.

Happy Bear is located right on the main road and is just a few minutes from Killington Ski Resort. This was the best part of the motel. This property is cheap for location, but you get what you pay for. The bedding looked super old and very used, bed was not comfortable, most of the furniture was crooked, the microwave and fridge were also super old, but working, the toilet was also loop sided, and the thermometer did not work for temp control. While it was superficially clean, you can tell in nooks and crannies that they don't do a deep clean of the rooms - I found other people's hair in the bathroom for example. For the 3 days that I stayed, 2 days had power outages for periods of time. Apparently this was due to other guests using a lot of appliances, but the staff was rude about the issue and not sympathetic or apologetic in the least.
