Windermere Park B&B inc Free off-site Health Club

Friendly staff

The off-site health club is a great asset. The staff there were welcoming. The spa was a lovely treat and we ate our evening meal there too. The Windermere Park is in a great location and the breakfast was great - our dogs also welcomed the sausage treat they were served.

There is a problem with the heating which meant that the bedroom was stifling, even with the window fully open and outside temperatures below 10C. There isn’t a full time reception staff member; the welcome we received was nothing like the warm welcome we have received elsewhere, though the restaurant staff were lovely.

The location was great. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was top notch!

The hotel is located right in the centre of Windermere, so it is very close to restaurants, supermarkets, and other useful facilities. It also has a spacious private car park, which is a great relief considering how expensive parking can be in the Lake District. The breakfast was a typical English breakfast and quite decent overall, although the buffet selection was not especially varied. Not every staff member was equally warm, but overall the service still felt friendly and welcoming. The room had multiple beds, and the two ceiling windows added a very romantic atmosphere. Housekeeping was also excellent — the room was cleaned daily (as long as requested), and fresh towels were always provided promptly.

However, if you are travelling with family, especially with a baby, I would strongly recommend packing light. The family rooms are all located on the second floor, and there is no lift, so you need to carry your luggage up narrow stairs. If you bring large suitcases, it can be quite exhausting (Room 17 even has an additional set of stairs 😂). The reception desk was also unattended quite often. Although the Lake District is generally very safe, it still felt slightly unsettling because the entrance door was frequently left open. The bathroom drainage also seemed to have an issue. Even though I take very quick showers (usually under five minutes), the water would spread all the way towards the sink area. My guess is that the floor may not be perfectly level, and there could also be hair partially blocking the drain. During showers, I actually had to push the water back toward the drain repeatedly to stop it from flooding the middle of the bathroom. In addition, one of the smaller beds was extremely squeaky.

Good space parking, close to town centre.

Traffic noise very loud as B&B is on the main rd. Shower performance very poor, and fan not working making room very hot, manager didn't seem to care when mentioning it. Breakfast options poor. Free health club is a 20mins drive away, why advertising it if not on site. Not value for money in my opinion.
