The Legacy River Kwai Resort

We booked this place with low expectations with an objective to see some elephants and see the river kwai. Well the expectation was exceeded! We had a wonderful stay at the River Kwai Legacy Resort! The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly from the moment we arrived. The lady at the cafe and restaurant was a 5 star all rounder. The property is absolutely adorable, with its peaceful riverside setting and charming details. There are dozens and dozens of luxury villas, yet a good percentage are being gently swallowed by the forest - you can tell COVID hit hard and the resort hasn’t fully recovered. But that slightly abandoned, overgrown feel actually adds real character and soul, much like the eerily beautiful abandoned resort in the movie The Resort, this alone should be a draw card for any adventure seeking guests. We loved the unique, lived-in magic of the place and are not dismissing a return with friends and family for an adventure. If you’re after an authentic, memorable experience along the River Kwai, this is it. Highly recommended!

It is beautiful with all the nature and the river Kwai. Watching the wonderful elephants bath is a real treat! However I understand that they are moving soon. There are some really lovely & helpful members of staff (especially at breakfast) and others which openly yawn in your face when you ask a question.

I echo the sentiments of a previous review which described the resort as a place where travellers go missing. It has a vibe. There were short black hairs all over the pillow, I let reception know, but nothing actually happened. The restaurant was also not open for dinner and I was not informed of this, so I survived on snacks (which I appreciate is not the worst thing). I booked the suite for two nights, but only ended up staying the one, it just felt a little creepy.
