Candlewood Suites Kansas City Northeast by IHG

My first encounter should have framed the context for our arrival. I had an IHG member rate for substantially less per night and (wouldn’t you know it), the website “couldn’t process my request”. I called the facility and after basically having to prove I wasn’t a liar, I got the rate which was given to me online. We were booked for a handicapped room with a roll in shower. Got the confirmation emailed to me, etc. Fast forward to our arrival 9/4 only to be met by “Gloria” who tells me they don’t have our room with a roll in shower available because “their system crashed” (now, they somehow still had our name, arrival, handicap room etc., though). She stated the Springhill Suites next door was managed by the same person and they’d put us there. I asked if Springhill had recliners, though(the whole reason we booked at Candlewood) and she said rudely, “Will you let me finish?!?” (She’s lucky I didn’t want to go to jail at that point!!!) she then got on the phone with Springhill and asked about the room features (whether it had a recliner) and then began speaking in Spanish about me (I don’t guess she knows others understand Spanish, as well!!) Then there was the matter of 5-6 workers (dressed in safety orange like construction workers or something), literally camped outside the main entrance sitting on coolers drinking beer while people are coming and going. The property was littered with cigarette butts, beer cans, vodka bottles, ridiculous!! We have stayed at MANY Candlewood’s (especially the one in Blue Springs), but we will NOT return to this place!!!!!

I had to change my own sheets and go to the front desk every night and get towels for the following morning. The room was hot and humid. I called the manager and she never got back to us or sent anyone to fix it. Overall for the price we paid for the room, the service and room condition were unexceptable by my standards.

It was very relaxing and so nice was a gift for my granddaughter and her husband for her birthday and their Anniversary well deserved break from two little ones and both working jobs!!!!

The internet was poor. When checking in I waited for 10 mins before being helped. I didn’t mind the wait I was more disappointed in not being acknowledged during the 10 minute wait. The located was a bit of a concern as not sure if we were in a safe area.

It was close to lots of amusement parks and other fun places. It is also close highway access.

Just a quick night away from home, visit to KU Med Center. I always rely on Candlewood Suites. Staff friendly. Excellent parking.

The location of this hotel just off of I-435 made it quite convenient for coming and going. The room was clean and was mostly nice and quiet. The staff were always smiling and friendly. The pantry was a great option when we wanted a snack, but didn't want to leave the hotel. The pool could be heated just a tad more.

I was greeted by a nice front desk worker. Met nice people in the lobby. Hotel had good water pressure. I appreciated the kitchen area. Also thank you for allowing pets. Definitely was the first time I ever saw dog magnets.

When putting all our things away I had a few refrigerator items. I opened the refrigerator door and found a beer box and half a lime in the bottom. I was upset but don’t need the refrigerator. Next morning I climb in the shower to find the wall above the shower BLACK. I took a wash cloth and with one wipe it started to come off. I took the soiled cloth down on my way to work. Was promised that everything would be taken care of while I was gone. 12 hours later I arrive to nothing being done.

i loved they were just a few mins away from wof and oof. i did not like very much that we didn't have the same room service as the first day to at least get clean towels.
