"Very expensive 2 night stay"

2.0

We booked back in January Palacio Cobertizo de Santa Ines through Expedia. We were told by e-mail that upon arrival to go to Rosa D'Oro hotel because the reception is for both hotels. Upon arrival we were told that the hotel we booked was not existing anymore (fraud) that we would have to stay at Rosa D'Oro for the 2 nights we had reserved. We were not happy at all because we had booked a 4 star hotel and a suite as a room at a cost of $199.00 Canadian per night.. Rosa D'Oro Hotel is a 3 star hotel listed on Expedia at $99.00 Canadian per night. We mentioned our concern to Maria at the front desk and she said for us not to worry as she would do something to satisfy us.I said the only way we would be satisfied would be to pay only one night as we had pre paid as a deposit for one night. Don't worry I will do something. We believed her. When we left after the 2 nights I reminded her what she had said. Please no worries she said. She asked for us to pay the parking (another fraud) and I gave her my credit card. Big mistake. Without my authorization she took my card number from the parking payment and charged me $199.00 Canadian for the second night. I have no receipt and it has passed on my credit card. Maria is a liar and a fraud. Instead of paying $198.00 Canadian for the 2 nights as advertised on Expedia, it costed us $398.00 Canadian. I have my credit card company on the case and will deal with the local authorities. Please stay away from this hotel.

"Great Location but Problems"

6.0

Good condition and very clean but on the small side especially bathroom/ shower (micro). Great location in old town beside bustling cafes and river. WiFi was so poor we had to sit beside reception and then still weak. Forget about uploading photos! Didn’t bother with breakfast at 10 Eu pp. Lots of places open nearby for a coffee and churros. Day staff were lovely and helpful but boss was of the non smiling variety. There must be better choices for the money.

"Pretty hotel - hard for limited mobility"

6.0

My wife and I were traveling w my mother-in-law and found this hotel extremely difficult. If it had been just the two of us it wouldn’t have been a big deal and the beautiful location and pretty rooms would have outweighed the struggles we had. We called twice in advance (we are fluent in Spanish) to ask about accessibility but no one mentioned that 1) the hotel had recently relocated and would be difficult to find (even for a friend who was helping us who lives in Granada) 2) there is no access by car and the closest parking is a fifteen minute walk and costs roughly 25 euros per 24 hours, and 3) the hotel reception is up a steep flight of stairs and although there is an elevator it can only be used with help from the single person staffing the desk. On the other hand, it was great for my wife and me to be in the old city, the rooms were great, and breakfast (though not included) was good.

"Quirky "

6.0

We have a couple of days in Granada. This hotel seems like in an ideal location on a very pretty and narrow streets, bounded by a stream and looking up to the Alhambra. The hotel is very small. As most buildings on this street, it showed lots of character. From the streets you climb up worn stone steps to the lobby/courtyard which is the only public area. With heavy suitcases, it could be a problem but the hotel made use of the elevator of the bar next-door. We were given room 202 which to our shock when we opened the door is a spiral staircase. This should only be for light travelers as we have maneuver our suitcases to get to our room. It is like staying in an attic which could be okay. But our low windows open to a line of AC units on the roof. The bed fortunately is comfortable. The bathroom with an old tub is tight. We have breakfast once in the lobby/courtyard on a wobbly trestle table. There is a better choice a few doors away.

"Simply perfect"

10.0

We stayed in this wonderful small hotel for three nights and it was perfect in every way. The location could not be better, we were able to walk everywhere to see all the amazing sights in this beautiful city. The staff were very helpful and friendly, the bedroom and en suite were spotlessly clean with lovely bed linen and a view of the Alhambra. The breakfast was excellent and there is a great little tapas bar next door where we ate twice. We are already planning another stay here for some more of our family!

"Excellent location and great staff"

10.0

Hotel Rosa d’Oro is a small boutique hotel in a centuries-old building right below Alhambra, near a stream with ancient arched bridges. Quaint would probably be a suitable word to describe it. Our room had a balcony with a fantastic view of the Alhambra fortress. We had a buffet breakfast each morning with a variety of fresh fruits, cheeses, ham, dried fruits, yogurt, etc and we were alone since the hotel is so small. The room had a private bath, an air conditioner that functioned well, and a small mini-bar fridge. The balcony was narrow but was enough to stand on to view a fantastic procession (band and floats) on the street below from the local church late one night. The rooms were clean and fresh, which is very important to me. WiFi was a bit iffy but I was mostly on data-roaming since I have an EU phone subscription so it made no difference for me. It could be a issue for others. There is an elevator from the main reception area but you need to climb a flight of steps to get to that area.

"A delight"

10.0

This hotel is set in a delightful location in the old town with views up to the Alhambra. We were given a room at the top on 3rd floor with a tiny staircase up to a balcony with a beautiful view up to the Alhambra and over the lovely street below. The staff in the hotel were extremely helpful and gave us a map marking out all of the must see sights of the city. The atmosphere in the small lobby is very friendly with free coffee tea and biscuits. In the morning the lobby becomes the breakfast area with a very good buffet and also if you request eggs are on offer. This hotel is really well situated for wandering around the old town and also for walking up to the Alhambra. There are some lovely historic bridges over the river nearby with very picturesque views and some good bars to sit and relax in. We had an excellent 2 night stay here and would highly recommend it.

Excellent location overlooking River Darro, with part of the Alhambra above and visible from front-facing rooms. In the old Albaicín area but also close to the Cathedral area and plenty of restaurants and bars. Helpful friendly management and comfortable room.
