"Perfect location and venue for mixing work and vacation - highly recommended"

10.0

Excellent in so many way -- especially the staff who were most helpful and friendly at all times. The hotel itself, with all of its furnishing and art, is absolutely and wonderfully fascinating.

"It is overall a good experience to stay in such historical castle for the first time ."

8.0

The breakfast was good. We went there for a wedding function so the castle hotel offered good facility and a very vintage venue for the joyous occasion. The very classic deco with rich historical background gave a very vintage and museum vibe which we enjoyed very much, took lots of pictures .

The Juliet suite room , while grand and richly decorated, should remove the skull displayed in the room and the deco in the entrance staircase area, as not all guests who come from different parts of world with different cultures and beliefs may appreciate it. It actually gave the 4 of us staying in the room a creepy feel. Suggest to replace the deco with something more soothing. The toilet plumbing in the unit also need some attention - when showering with certain option of the shower head type - water leaks from somewhere near the toilet to wet the floor that may spill outside into the bathtub platform area outside the bathroom door .

"Beautiful castle - make sure there are no weddings or functions held on the day/s you planning on staying"

8.0

Stunning castle with beautiful decor.

There was a wedding on the day we stayed at the castle(a Wednesday). That meant that many of the areas were restricted and could not be viewed. The hotel guest were also treated as a nuisance by the wedding guests and even though we tried to stay out of the way, we could not move anywhere without someone chasing us away. We ended up walking into the village. On return to the castle much later, the wedding was still going strong and we decided to rather just stay in our room instead of exploring the castle. Weddings and functions are obviously the main income for the castle, which is fine, but hotel guests should be made aware of the fact when booking. Even the restaurant had a very limited menu only (no a la carte) as the kitchen was busy catering for the wedding. We certainly did not get value for our money.

Castle is an absolutely stunning location. We chose to spend my daughter’s birthday here and it was amazing - from attention to details in services (such as flowers, cake and many more) to an unbelievable surroundings and princess worthy room! I would recommend anyone who is looking for a special place to celebrate a loved one or a special occasion!

"Maybe good for events but not for a regular stay"

6.0

The castle is absolutely beautiful. Personnel were nice. Our room was beautiful and the bathroom had a huge bathtub. We did a wine tasting that was probably one of the best experiences of our stay and I highly recommend it. Easy to reach by train (a car is not strictly necessary) and good connections to visit nearby cities.

It is absolutely overpriced for the experience they offer for a regular stay. You can tell they make most of their business for events (weddings, anniversaries, thematic nights) and they probably do a great job on those, but they are careless regarding people who choose to stay just because they want to stay: - We were forbidden to explore beyond 10pm because there are night alarms. - My boyfriend is allergic to dust and he could immediately tell that even though the commonly used surfaces were clean, a lot of corners, nooks and crannies had not been dusted properly and he spent the whole stay sneezing and full of snot. - All of the rooms of the castle are full of set tables and chairs like there is going to be an event. There was no event during our stay, they just do not put them away at all. This results in you having to dodge them to visit around or to take pictures. Also you cannot sit in all of these rooms and just enjoy the place. You have to go to the bar. Such a shame to have this huge place that you cannot enjoy properly unless you’re having a huge event. In other castles we have visited they have a specific area for events, but the regular clients can sit around and sip some wine checking the paintings or the antiques. - There are not many options for lunch or dinner nearby, so we booked their restaurant and chose a tasting menu. Attention was good and the place is charming, but the food… I would say it was just OK and yet they charge like they appear in the Michelin guide. They also have a high coperto that they do not wave even though you are a guest in the castle. - Additionally, restaurant is closed on Wednesdays. This I understand, but we were told we could not even have some cheese or a glass of wine at the bar. So if you stay here on a Wednesday you should have a car, otherwise you cannot reach anywhere on foot.

"Excellent - a most interesting and unusual hotel"

9.0

This is a fascinating place to stay. There are numerous public spaces packed full of the owners’ collections of antiques and artefacts. It’s really interesting, especially in this historic castle setting. Our room was entirely in keeping, very handsomely furnished in period style but also very comfortable with every modern convenience. The bathroom was equally stylish with classy toiletries provided.

Nothing to criticise. There were few other guests on the night we stayed, so with such big empty spaces in the castle it felt a little unatmospheric. The castle appears to be set up mainly as an event venue.
