Hotel Penzance Harbour View

. Almost as nice as it was a decade ago.

Needs some basic maintenance, toilet flush needs fixing. Wall Pictures need aligning. Breakfast is a cheap but high impact event. Suggest abundance especially in cheap stuff, tea in tea pots, toast already cooked.

Das ganze Hotel ist sehr in die Jahre gekommen und hat mit einem 4-Sterne-Hotel nicht mehr viel zu tun. An den Wänden blättert zum Teil die Farbe ab. Das Zimmer roch während des ganzen Aufenthaltes (2 Nächte) nach Ergrautem und nach Chlor. Sehr unangenehm. Lüften half leider nichts.

Beautiful hotel. Our bedroom had a view of the harbour that was quite nice. The bathroom had an excellent shower. The included breakfast was served in a lovely dining room. There were many delicious items featured on the buffet (pastries, fruit, etc.) and then we could also order off of the menu. The food was exceptionally well-prepared; indeed, the scrambled eggs were some of the creamiest and tastiest we’ve ever had!

The location is good in that it’s near the train station, but there is a steep hill to walk up to get to the hotel. We didn’t have a car, so rolled our carry-on bags from the train station, but going up that hill was quite a hike! Overall, the hotel is worth it, though. Just make sure you have the stamina to climb the hill (or get a taxi!).

When we arrived there was no one on reception to check us in and we had to hunt the receptionist down. There is no lift and the stair carpet has seen better days. The room was of a generous size and had a harbour view. There were no dedicated connections to charge devices. The bed was large with two mattresses joined together. The RH mattress had a ridge in the middle of it which made it uncomfortable. The bathroom was a generous size , but the bath suffered from chipped enamel around the bath plug. The room had aircon, although we didn't try it out. The room was .it very sound proof so we could hear our neighbours talking through the wall. The dining room was pleasant. The cooked breakfast was okay, but expensive for what it was. The continental breakfast was better value. The staff on the whole were pleasant and helpful. The hotel had a garden and swimming pool. Overall I would rate the hotel as a three star rather than a four star. Penzance is a good transport hub, but not a place most people would want to stay. It is very run down.

The room was very comfortable and the service was very friendly.

Large room Room was cleaned every day. Nicely situated to train and town was an easy walk. Good breakfasts. We had dinner at the hotel which was also good. Staff were very helpful. Overall a pleasant stay.

Bed was too firm for my liking as were the pillows. Lighting in bathroom was very poor.

Last minute stopover due to flight cancellation to Isles of Scilly. Lovely hotel with great views of St Michael’s Mount. Staff very friendly and helpful and I was able to charge my EV.

My room did not have the harbour view. Would have liked a map and Instructions for walking from the station giving the option of the less steep, but longer, walk up.
