"One of our best experiences"

We stumbled upon this delight B&B on a recent trip to the Dubuque area. The manor is beautifully restored with period furnishings. The stff was friendly and helpful and breakfast was delicious. The addition of evening dessert is special We hope to be back.

"Not as relaxing as hoped "

6.0

Well checked in the ataff was great but a few lights were burnt out in my room and no set rules or regulations on the hot tub which lead to me screwing up using it while trying. To get out to turn off the 30 minute times on the wall like 15 yards away crossed a floor with no rug or floor mat and whipped out and bopped the back of my head on a stair which hurt like hell so I decide I didn't feel like killing myself on that tile so even though I don't like to lie I did and told the inn keeper my uncle had a heart attack so I could leave due to how stupid and sore I was and didn't get my cash back and don't care about the money just care about my life and safety!!

"Old World Charm with Modern Day Comforts"

10.0

Even before our arrival, Kathy took care to know our dietary needs and adapt her delicious recipes to meet them. She also accommodated a slightly early check-in with grace. In fact, she not only arrived home early to meet us, she then gave us a grand tour along with a history of the house and its former owners, which gave us the opportunity to glimpse and admire the vintage details and gleaming woodwork throughout. Since Kathy and Viryl, her husband, have been in the antiques business for most of their long lives, they have been able to furnish the rooms with some spectacular pieces, too. Ours had a handsomely carved, magnificent four-poster bed and matching dresser. The room was airy, bright, spotless, and very comfortable. The only things we might have wished for were shades to block the bright sun that poured through the top parts of the windows. If we'd been staying longer, we probably would have wanted a bit more hanging space, too. But, as it was, we felt we were well taken care of and enjoyed being just a short walk from both Main Street and the Old City Hall Gallery. And, as I'd imagined it would, the sumptuous family-style breakfast did not disappoint. I wanted the recipe for the egg casserole; kept helping myself to way more fried potatoes than anyone should; and lingered to enjoy more rich, strong coffee with cream, chat with other guests, and listen to amusing anecdotes from Viryl and Kathy's lives. Needless to say, I look forward to our next stay!
