Indochine Palace

A grand hotel just outside the main business area of Hue. Opened in 2009, it has an impressive lobby area, a stunning outdoor pool, a very convivial bar and an excellent restaurant (a comprehensive breakfast offering, which will satisfy tastes from across the world, was served here in the morning, while an impressive a-la-carte menu operated at night - we tried both and they were excellent). We had a balcony room on the 7th floor overlooking the Hung Vuong road, so we had a great view out over the city. The room was clean and functional, with good amenities (though they could perhaps do with a bit of a tech upgrade to keep up with the digital age such as more USB ports etc), but there were ample shops and restaurants within easy walking distance, leading to a lovely walk along the riverside. The hotel was in easy driving distance of The Citadel and other major tourist attractions. What stood out was the customer service - friendly, efficient and very professional. We had an early checkout but a later flight, which meant we spent some time at a loose end in the afternoon - but our luggage was stored safely and we were well looked after in the hotel lounge, where the bar meals menu was very good and excellent value for money. The staff were attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Thoroughly recommended.

We have just checked out of this hotel after a wonderful 2 night say at this superb hotel. The free upgrade to a suite was the icing on the cake and we were treated like royalty! Spotlessly clean, exceptional service by all staff, delicious food at all meals, a huge, refreshing pool - utter perfection!! Leaving here is a huge wrench! Thank you for everything!

We stayed here as a couple for three nights in March while touring Vietnam, booking an Indochine One Bedroom Suite. The room itself was impressively large, very clean, and tidy, with a spacious bathroom area and a very comfortable bed. It felt airy and well laid out, making it a pleasant place to relax after long days exploring Hue. That said, some of the in-room amenities didn’t quite live up to what we’d expect from a five-star hotel. There were only a couple of tea bags, a few Nescafé sachets, and a small kettle. There were also no USB charging points, so be sure to bring travel adapters. We visited the lobby bar several times for drinks and light food. The cocktails were nicely made, and on one evening there was a singer performing. However, the atmosphere felt a little subdued and lacked the vibrancy you might expect in a luxury hotel setting. Breakfast each morning offered an extensive selection and was consistently enjoyable, with plenty of choice to suit different tastes. We also tried the spa during our stay and had massages, which were very good and excellent value for money. Similar to other areas of the hotel though, the spa facilities were pleasant but didn’t quite feel as luxurious as a five-star rating might suggest. The hotel’s central location is a real advantage, making it easy to walk into Hue and explore the city’s sights. Our interactions with staff were limited but always positive and professional. Overall, we would describe this as a very good quality hotel with large, clean rooms, comfortable beds, and a solid standard of service in an excellent central location. It represents good value for money and is ideal for a short stay in Hue. However, if you are seeking true five-star luxury with a lively atmosphere, this hotel feels closer to a high-quality four-star chain hotel experience than a premium luxury one.

Nice hotel centrally located. Our room was a huge with a basin behind a screen and a shower and wc in separate rooms. There was a large, central pool which was beautiful and not too chilly. The staff were friendly and helpful and we ate in the restaurant twice as the menu was extensive and reasonably priced. We felt some of the corridors looked a bit tired but this was not reflected in the room which was lovely.
