"Cloudy Pool and No Hot Water—Disappointing Stay at The Yogo"

4.0

We stayed at The Yogo in June 2026. The room was clean, and it didn’t seem very busy—the parking lot was far from full. However, we had several issues during our stay. The pool was cloudy to the point that you couldn’t see the bottom, which was concerning. Additionally, there was no hot water in the morning for showers. Overall, while the room itself was fine, these issues made the stay disappointing.

"Buyer beware! Zero stars!"

2.0

My experience at the Yogo Inn was a masterclass in how to take an already mediocre property and make it significantly worse through poor management and dismissive customer service. I’ll start with the only redeeming part: the gentleman who checked us in Friday evening—and who I spoke with again at 6 a.m.—was kind, professional, and helpful. He clearly understands what hospitality is supposed to look like. Unfortunately, he seems to be the exception here, not the rule. The hotel itself is exactly what you hope to avoid: outdated, poorly maintained, and frankly unpleasant. The room had a stale, odd smell that never went away, and everything about the space felt worn down and neglected. “Dingy” is the most accurate word that comes to mind. Now, onto the part that actually earns this review. We were in town with a U15 traveling soccer team, dealing with severe and unpredictable weather all week. On Friday, trying to make a safe and responsible decision, we extended our stay rather than risk a four-hour drive home after a late game. At 6 a.m. Saturday, the tournament was canceled. I immediately went to the front desk to discuss options. The morning staff member was polite, but once the clock hit 9 a.m., everything shifted. I asked to speak with Kris, the general manager. I was told she was “on the phone.” I left a message. I came back at 9:30—this time I was told she was “in the kitchen” and would call me back. Let me be clear: she never did. The front desk woman’s handling of this was just as frustrating. Every interaction felt like I was being brushed off rather than helped. There was no urgency, no ownership, and no effort to actually connect me with the person who was supposedly in charge. Just vague excuses, repeated delays, and a clear lack of interest in resolving anything. After waiting five hours, I finally called Kris myself—and that’s when it became obvious where the problem starts. I have rarely spoken to someone in a customer-facing management role who seemed so completely uninterested in basic professionalism. Not once did she offer even a token acknowledgment of the situation—no apology, no understanding, nothing. Just a flat, almost rehearsed repetition of “24-hour cancellation policy,” as if that absolves her from actually managing people or situations. What made it worse was the tone. It didn’t come across as firm but fair—it came across as dismissive, cold, and frankly a little smug. As though shutting down the conversation was the goal, not addressing a legitimate concern involving youth travel, safety, and weather-related cancellations. I offered to send proof—emails, screenshots from the tournament organizers—anything that would support the situation. The response? “I’ll take a look and let you know.” Predictably, no follow-up. So to recap: a dated, unpleasant property, a front desk that deflects instead of assists, and a general manager who can’t be bothered to return calls, communicate clearly, or show even the bare minimum level of courtesy. Kris—if you happen to read this—I hope you eventually find the time to follow up. I won’t hold my breath. If you’re considering staying here, understand that the condition of the hotel is only part of the problem. The bigger issue is how little regard there seems to be for the people actually staying in it.

"Excellent Experience!"

8.0

Came here for work. Heard the restaurant was good. Definitely ate there twice and enjoyed it. Very tasty. The bar was lively and Mike is an outstanding bartender, and Cheyenne was very friendly. Chris (the GM) was able to square away the hotel charge through my company and made sure I had all I needed at check-in. She is also super sweet, and a great cook. Haley & Alex (front desk staff) were excellent. If I needed local recommendations, extra towels, make-up wipes, change for the laundry room or help setting up my TV (lol)---they were always willing to help and make me happy. Beds were extremely comfy and I loved I was able to adjust the thermostat depending on the weather outside. Only complaint was the noise on a Friday night from the pool folks when I would go to sleep at around 8 to get up at 4am for work. BUT....you have an option to not be near the pool. Highly recommended and the scenery to the hotel was excellent.

"Not worth how expensive it is."

4.0

The hotel is very dated. The toilets in the room barely flushed, there was obvious water damage in the ceilings, and the indoor pool was too cold. People were fighting over the hot tub because it was the only warm place. The front desk staff were rather curt and the phone didn’t work in the room. It’s a rather odd set up because your windows go straight out to the pool and it’s very easy to see in the cracks of the curtains. It was convenient until you hear the laughter and screams of children until 10pm at night (we have little kids who go to bed early) and the pool area stays rather lit once the pool shuts down. I won’t be staying there again and I wouldn’t recommend it to others.

"DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!"

2.0

The customer service here is AWFUL! Not only is the staff rude and power hungry, but the hotel is DIRTY!! And we paid for 4 rooms at $225 EACH! We have been coming here for 12 years to go to the polar express train ride. We have always done a small gift exchange near the pool/common area. This was the very first year that the staff made sure that we were sent to our rooms by 10pm. Both the manager and the night clerk threatened to kick us out when we said she lied about “every hotel shutting down common area at 10pm for standard procedure. Every hotel does this”. My sister in law manages multiple hotels. But because we said she lied we were told “I will just check you out now then and you can leave.” No yelling or cussing from us whatsoever. Just genuinely confused as to why this was a new rule. But here it is, 10:30 at night during a snow storm being told we will need to leave due to us saying she lied. Save your money, this place is a rat hole with zero customer service. What a shame :( we used to enjoy coming here!

"Great Convention Space"

10.0

The Montana Farmers Union 110th Annual State Convention was held at the Yogo Inn Oct 30-Nov 1 2025. The staff at the hotel were amazing with excellent customer service, the convention spaces were comfortable, clean and set correctly. There were five farm to table meals during the two days. The hotel sourced the majority of the food from Montana producers and prepared the items to perfection. I would highly recommend a business of 150 or so people to use this property for a conference/convention.

"Not good"

2.0

Rude at the bar and did not wait on us until we asked for menu’s. If you’re short handed communicate! Rude at the front desk not kitten friendly but dog friendly would not allow a 10 day old bottle fed kitten in a carrier stay in the room that doesn’t even move. Messed up our Room reservation we made back in March. Could not keep our adjoining rooms like we asked. But yet the parking lot was empty and the rooms were not full?Hotel needs renovation bad smells like mice have infested it. You could hear them up in the ceiling at night smells of urine & pot very old should probably be closed down and redone. We won’t stay there again after this experience. Very disappointing!

"Consider looking elsewhere - sad state for a landmark location."

4.0

To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I'm a hometown bratt, so I know this hotel well. (I'll say positive stuff after my little rant). They did the typical Lewistown style & put lipstick on a pig with what they call a remodel. The pool area is the hit of the hotel & YIKES! More on that below. The toilets are original (think squatty potty) to when it was built. I think they had the owners elementary school grandkids do the remodel. Whoever they contracted needs to lose their license (doubt they had one). That was tolerable, however, the sewage stench was not tolerable. I assumed because we were in the "pets allowed" area, it was just stinky from poor cleaning. OK, whatever, I'll manage. It became unbearable when it rained, which indicated their vents were not functioning properly (probably flooded) with rain water, causing sewage gases to permeate the room. We ended up having to move rooms & come to find out, they knew there was a problem, yet booked people in that area anyway - THAT'S NUTS!! We barely even got an apology, much less offered any compensation. According to their "policy", you only get 1 complimentary room refresh IF you stay more than 3 days. We stayed for 5 nights. The room refresh was on the day I asked to be moved. If you want fresh towels or more than 2 keurig cups of coffee, you have to go to the office to get it. At $800+ for a 5 night stay, it's not worth it! Now a little nice: The pool was well maintained (literally the only reason we stayed at all). The floors in the pool carpeted area are filthy & the "hot" tub was a bit on the cooler side, but still enjoyable. Bravo to the maintenance person for proper pool chemicals!!! The staff was friendly, but minimalist in their efforts. WHY 2 STARS? 1 for the pool & 1 because the bed was not uncomfortable. This hotel needs the community to rally around it & get it spruced up. This isn't a fancy town so expectations are already low, but at least try to get to the bar. You're so far below it, it's pathetic!

"We had a nice time and incredible restaurant!!"

10.0

Enjoyed our interaction with the folks at the front desk and we really enjoyed the manager! Staff was friendly and the rooms were nice and comfortable. The real rave was the food at Stetson's! Wow! That in and of itself is worth the visit! Huge portions and just flat out amazing food!
