Hotel Portonovo Plaza Malecon

Everything was wonderful. Super nice staff.

Only 2 issues. They only provide 2 bath towels but we were 2 adults 1 child. There were a lot of roaches. I let the staff know and they advised me to keep windows shut and took care of the problem immediately. The staff was so awesome the food was amazing. Even the guest were amazing. I had the best stay ever. It’s the perfect location and affordable and so many things right outside the hotel to see do shop etc.

Poorly maintained, shower door didn’t close properly, water leaked outside shower, bathroom door frame corroded, corrosion on walls too, closet’s shelf nailing coming loose, lights fixtures corroded.

Not attentive, and not very friendly also everything is so old.

Customer service could have been better.

The pool wasn’t open. Also there was an issue with brown water coming out of the tap but that was a municipal issue not the hotel

This is a great hotel if you want to be near everything. Is only a couple of blocks from our favorite restaurant Ah Caramba. Couple blocks from the Malecon and market. Tons of restaurants in any direction and a public beach around the corner. The staff was always friendly

The breakfast was awesome. build your own Huevos Rancheros, pancakes, fresh fruit and more. Hotel clean with comfortable beds. 1/2 block from the beach and next to big grocery store. Definitely stay here again.

I hated this place from check in. If it was more than 1 night i would have left. Check in staff was not bilingual, and kind of rude. Our bellhop was good and tried his english and helped with my Spanish. It was the smallest hotel room i have ever seen with the smallest bed ever. I dont know if it was even a double. The pool was so dirty i didnt use it, and you couldnt see through the glass on the rooftop patio. Shower door didnt shut and got water All over the tiny bathrooom. Sheets had stains. No pool towels... ugh!

Staff was pleasant and accommodating. Asked for a quiet room. First night we were given a room in the front side of the hotel. It was too noisy for us from traffic, very early in the morning. Changed to a room in the back (ocean side) for the rest of our stay. Quiet and pleasant. Beds in both rooms were comfortable. Air condition was good but created a musty odor. Shower stall was big but the placement of the shower head (in both rooms was located beside a corner beam) made it feel tight. Breakfast buffet was good, fresh fruit and eggs, juice, yogurt, sides. Coffee was not available prior to restaurant open hours. Bottled water was provided for the first day only. The hotel is located 3 blocks from Malecon, close for nice walks and far from the blaring music of the bars. There are various restaurants and coffee shops in the area, research the travel blogs to find one that fits your taste and budget. Mcds and Starbucks for coffee and ice cream for the boardwalk stroll. Clean attended washrooms (10 pesos) available. We did not have a car, walked the area. The bus system is good, but needs some knowledge in order to be used effectively.
