Homewood Suites by Hilton South Bend Notre Dame Area

We had such a great experience at the Homewood Suites in South Bend. We came down to watch a ND lacrosse game and this hotel had everything we needed. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very nice employee at the front desk who saw that we were traveling with 4 man size children and gave us an extra welcome bag. Our room had plenty of space to accommodate everyone and was very clean. We had two tv's, great work space and a nice size fridge for keeping all things cool. Beds were comfortable but I'd bring my own pillow next time (theirs were too soft for me). The breakfast had great options (cereal, muffins, waffles, omelets, sausage, juices, coffee, etc.) and was one of the best hotel breakfasts we've come across. They also had a beer wall, which was very cool. There was a great outdoor seating area with a fire pit that we will enjoy next time when the weather is a bit warmer. This hotel hit way above its price point and we will continue to book a room here when we visit South Bend.

Stayed here on a Spring Break trip the last two years after not being able to get a room at the Edy Street Commons Embassy Suites (much, much better and preferred property right across Angela Ave. from ND campus) and it may have been worse this year than it was last year. Obvious, even to someone not trained in the trades, shoddy construction as this is a newer property. Poor water pressure in the shower, sink faucets too close to back of sink to actually wash hands properly, crooked tiles and outlet covers etc. While the price is commensurate with the quality of stay, I would echo others' reviews and find somewhere, anywhere, else to stay. After staying here the family stayed at a Homewood in Ann Arbor (see review I wrote on that place) and the two hotels couldn't be more different and should not both be considered Homewood Suites. If I were Hilton I would be ashamed of the South Bend property calling themselves a Hilton brand. Makes me wonder if Hilton has an auditing process wherebywhich they send out undercover customers to review their different properties.

Well kept, great updates, super clean. I Will definitely return to this centrally located - with free parking- Hilton property. Friendly, helpful staff and evening cocktail hours, great for business travelers and pleasure seekers alike. Selena in housekeeping works extra hard to make guests feel at home.

It would be easier to say what we didn't like....nothing! Our room was extremely comfortable having been recently renovated in the past year, there were numerous restaurants within walking distance, and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We especially enjoyed our interaction one evening with Alex the manager. What an outstanding young man who on his own time after his day had ended chatted with us about all that South Bend had to offer. Amazing.

The hot breakfast was adequate, typical hotel fare. Although one morning they had omelets which were quite tasty.

We needed a larger room for our group and booked here. The room was quite spacious. The property was very clean. And we didn’t hear anything outside our room. It was a very convenient location to get to Notre Dame for hockey. Would definitely stay here again.

Didn’t eat breakfast wasn’t included with the room.

The fire alarm was going off at 4:30am during my stay. The significant other i was traveling with has anxiety and the alarm disturbed her sleep.

After reading the poor reviews on TripAdvisor, I debated about booking a room here. I am a Hilton Diamond member and prefer to stay at Home2Suite properties. Since the reviews seemed to improved over the Fall 2023, I decided to stay here. Big mistake. I share others’ concerns about one’s personal safety at this hotel as well as the shoddy construction. Case in point, the deadbolt on the room door could not lock all the way bc the mechanism was not screwed on straight in the doorframe. Not good at all. I plugged in my laptop and the bottom of the outlet started wiggling back and forth. I thought the outlet was going to come out of the wall. The shower faucet also wiggled back and forth when turning on the shower water. For a newly renovated hotel, the end tables by the bed were seriously scratched and worn. Bad smell in the elevator as well. I asked for a room away from any busy streets and was given a room overlooking State Route 933. I asked Lateshia at the front desk if there were any rooms facing the back, and she said there were not. There was truck traffic All Night Long, so I slept very poorly. I literally saw No One at this hotel from the time I checked in until I checked out. No guests even at breakfast. There were cars in the parking lot, so I have no idea who was staying here or if rooms were occupied. Overall, a poor experience and would definitely not recommend to others. A very poor reflection on the Hilton brand.
