"Unpleasant experience"

The hotel is well made but as a guest they do not treat you well. Lot of confusion among hotel staff with regard to policies and other stuff. I would not recommend this hotel to any foreigner. It's all chaotic. I have stayed at other hotels in China and have always had pleasant time but this hotel I can not say the same.

"Lovely hotel near west lake"

Lovely hotel quite close to West Lake itself. Well spread out. Nice restaurant on the roof floor with open areas on the roof to explore. Fine food. Lovely views of the area around the lake (which has no high risers due to the lakes beauty apparently.

-good , relatively fast check in -very, very dated rooms -half of the hotel, when you look from the balcony, looks to be apartments as you can see people hanging their clothes, plants, etc -overall relatively efficient staff -good location, near the lake

I don't think this is 5 start hotel: 1) the property facilities are old, for example, the glass-door of shower room cannot prevent shower water leak to bathroom, always. 2) the swimming pool in basement is dark and dirty, with very bad smell, I didn't use but looked around. The fitting facilities and swimming pool are open to public, such as training groups, unsafe at all. 3) the main hotel entry door doesn't open to the street facing west lake (if so that'll be great), however, it's opening to a narrow street with busy traffic, looks like free-market.
