Hotel Irma

Moderately priced hotel in the best location. Located about 15 minutes along the Fisherman’s Walk from el Centro, this hotel was perfect for us. Great views and easy beach access, friendly staff, beautiful pools, and good food. We look forward to returning.

Location made it easy to go elsewhere to eat and enjoy Zihua, but be careful they close the gate to the stairs to Madera at dark so you have to take the street back. View of the New Years fireworks and the beach was fantastic.

Ate hotel food, I was sick within hours and my wife the next day, lost 3 days of vacation stuck in bed and still feeling effects after getting home. This was the only food/drink we had in Mexico prior to getting sick and the last we ate at this hotel. Drinks were low quality and seemed watered down. We restricted our hotel purchases to beer & bottled water. Anytime you got ice from them it tasted like salt other guests complained their drinks tasted of salt as well. There was no ice machine and you had to get ice by the cup from bar. Rooms were poorly appointed, with little room for hanging clothes so we were forced to live out of a suitcase, no iron or anything like that. Would have been nice to have at least a dresser. We thought it odd that the only thing on the bed was a sheet, no bedspread. Our shower had no hot water pressure, it would start off strong and within a minute water stopped completely. When we reported issues with our shower to the staff we received a song and dance about being full and needing to shower at a different time but I think they must have gotten more than a few complaints about this. They eventually fixed with a pump that ran all night and kept us awake cycling on/off every 15 seconds. Very, very noisy place right above the pool with kids playing until late at night along with comings and goings of guests. They had this rule for no speakers by the pool, yet they did not play any music of their own. We personally prefer a little bumping Mexican pop - lets get the party going. It was nice to hear the surf but most of the time you heard kids screaming in the pool. Staff at the hotel were lack-luster, never saw lazier waiters if you wanted a beer by the pool you had to hunt them down and they might show up once at the beginning of happy hour. BTW, happy hour is only a couple of cocktails made with very bottom shelf booze. I ended up helping people with their umbrellas because the staff was hard to find.

Rooms are cossie with a view worth the rate. Love Zihua! Best vacation money can bye! Clean, safe and just a big treat! Cannot say enough. Next is a 5 star dinner overlooking the bay. Even better, just a 2.5 hour flight from Dallas. We are already planning our return.

The hotel is extremely outdated. The front desk check in experience was extremely uncomfortable. The gentleman at the front desk refused to allow us to check in unless we gave him access to my personal email hotel confirmation. We had already paid and provided him with state issued ID's. He said it was hotel policy and was unreasonably rude. I explained that the email confirmation belonged to me and I could read him the confirmation numbers. He refused to acknowledge my confidentiality concerns. While hotel Irma is in a warm climate hot water is still necessary to shower comfortably. Unfortunately the hotel didn't have enough hot water or water pressure in the shower. The bed frames and headboard are made out of concrete and dangerous if you miss your pillow while laying down. The air-conditioning units are old and non-efficient unable to maintain the room cool. The tv's are difficult to watch. They require a three step different buttons and function to get them to work. Not enough pool towels for guests. Access to a taxi was a pain and inconvenient. The front desk staff had difficulty getting taxi's to come to the hotel on a timely fashion. The pool restaurant staff was quick to take food drink orders, however, delivering food and getting the check was slow and unnecessarily delayed. We rented three rooms and had hopes for a better experience from staff to facilities. We enjoyed the cleanliness but that's about it. I don't recommend to anyone and will never return.

Great location with wonderful views. Rooms are dated. Was asked to change rooms midway through my stay so they could do scheduled maintenance on the aircon unit.

Truly a jem! Hotel Irma is relaxing and the entire staff is amazing!!! We will be back
