Maya Caprice Boutique Hotel & Spa

Loved our stay in Wengen at the beautiful Maya Caprice. Would love to return!

Pros: Incredible views Good breakfast Very very close to train station and town Cons: The jacuzzi in the spa is tiny. No AC in room as seems to be the norm in Swiss hotels. Opening the window would have been fine to let a cool breeze in BUT there was no net on the windows to keep bugs out!! Please put at least One net on one window to allow for sleeping with window open!

We stayed at this property for two nights at one of their higher priced suite, and it was our first time in Wengen. The location of this hotel is unbeatable as it is probably the closest distance to the train station. The staff were not that friendly, kind of disinterested about their guests. The view was also breathtaking. During one late afternoon, there was a huge thunderstorm and took out all the power in town. When we opened our balcony door to sit outside, an insulation panel/door that was not bolted shut blew open and insulation materials were everywhere in the room where I slept. We told the front desk people and they came and put the insulation stuff back in and close the panel. They cleaned a bit of the floor. However, there was insulation dust everywhere in the room, and only one light worked in that living room area. The dust was in my bedding, my personal items, which caused me itchiness even in my sleep. We asked for some compensation for the uninhabitable night. It was utterly turned down with a big No. Customer service is not their strongest suit. Before this incident, I was actually going to refer my friends in the states to book this place. Now I doubt I would ever recommend this property. If you only want the location with the bare minimum customer service, then go for it. We changed to a different hotel in town, and it was like a day and night difference. We got such warm welcome and so much helpful information in just the first 5 minutes.

This was the perfect place with exactly what we were looking for. It had spectacular views and everything we needed was within walking distance. The restaurant was also excellent. Delicious menu that changed daily. Did I mention the views? I can’t wait to come back again.

Overall this hotel has been amazing! The staff is very kind and the restaurant was fantastic. It was very close to 5 stars but there is no A/C so during the summer it’s pretty tough. We had the windows and door open and eventually it cooled down but certain smells and cigarette smoke were less than ideal. Some of the items such as pillows were pretty rough as well. The office did the best they could to help by offering a fan. Definitely recommend going in cooler months though.

We came to Switzerland for the first time on this trip. We planned this trip late and stumbled upon this hotel due to availability. It was an excellent location close to the train station. There are five of us in the family, and so we stayed in the suite. It was very spacious. The staff Was incredibly friendly. my only drawback was the cost. But with most things is Switzerland, that it is all fairly expensive. Perhaps the smaller rooms would have been less expensive, but with our late planning and the size of our group, this room available fit our needs.

On the last day they were unable to offer late checkout but stored our luggage while we went cycling then we had use of the bathroom and showers in the spa area. The sauna and hot tub were nice to relax in as well. This was a summer stay so I cannot comment on suitability for winter activities but it’s so close to the gondola that I would likely stay here if returning in winter. Breakfast was standard for Switzerland, decent variety of cheeses, breads, and yoghurt to fuel a day of activities.

Amazing hotel. Perfectly located just a few feet away from train station. The balcony views of Lauterbrunnen valley are breathtaking. Excellent spot for dinner as well.
